I see PartsPC is advertising it as having firewire when this board does not! I did get a mail from Mesh yesterday saying that due to the volume of mails they could not reply and that I could phone them.....well at least we know know, and how they plan to get around it (by adding a firewire card)

ZZF doesn't advertise it nor does the ASUS website the addition of a firewire card. Is this just Mesh that's doing this? Are they going to charge extra for it?

Mesh is doing this because they themselves advertized that it had a firewire port on it, when it actually doesn't.

ASUS isn't going to provide you with a firewire card (nor will ZZF), just because the motherboard doesn't have it. I'm sure the cost of the firewire card is included with whatever cost the system sells for. A firewire card isn't all that expensive in the first place.

Hello guys,

I'm french and i'm also definitly interested by this mobo. I was being afraid that this motherboard will be never released. Finally, i've decided to e-mail to France Asus Website just to see...

One day after i sended my mail (2 days ago), a guy from asus answered me this :

"Thanks for your interest in your products

This motherboard is planned to be available end of April."

So, that's mean this board is not cancelled
But, we'll have to wait a little bit

PS : sorry for my poor english.

In any case it is really pity that they don't include firewire port on board, I don't want to loose a PCI slot becasue of additional card. I have feeling I will have to go with SLI board.

My guess is that the issue here is the on-board WiFi. If AD2019's post is correct, then what other reason could there be?

My current decision is to go with the A8N-SLI Premium board, however, if the A8N-E Premium comes out before or at the same time, then I'll go with it. Maybe some new information will come out at CeBIT. I'll most likely have to decide in the next week now, as my case requires me to specify the motherboard before it's finished being built, as the video card uses heat pipes to be cooled. Unfortunately, ASUS puts the primary video card (PCI-E 16x) in the top slot on the SLI board, but on the non-SLI boards, the 16x slot is located on the 4th (or last PCI-E) slot on the board, or near the middle of the board. If ASUS would have kept both as the top slot, then I could specify either as being okay, as the boards seem to be very close in the location of the PCI-E slots, then I could wait another two weeks until buying the board...

Aggre with you geo but the fact is that i'm not sure that the PCI Express 16X slot on the A8N-E Premium will be on the 4th slot. I mean, look at the A8N-E, the 16X PCI Express slot is on the top... And actually, we don't have any recent photos of the Premium version. So, who knows ?

But, as you, my choice will gofor the A8N-SLI Premium if the 16X pci express slot stay on the 4th slot on the final version.

Interesting. I didn't notice that they changed the 16x slot on the A8N-E. This is a good thing, as far as I'm concerned. That means, that when using only one video card in the SLI setup, it will be in the same location as the non-SLI board. This is what I'm looking for, so hopefully, ASUS, if they do come out with the E Premium board, will also have it's 16x slot on top.

P.S., Your English is really good for use as your second language, in my opinion. Is it true that the French dislike it when American's speak French when they don't speak it so well? I heard this a long time ago, and never really knew if it was true. In other words, would it be better for a traveling American in France to speak English, and just hope someone can understand them, or would it be better for them to at least try and halfway decently speak French?

I hope so and it would be the clever way to set the PCI 16X Express slot, for obvious cooling purpose. I hope we can count on Asus to take this in account. My ATI Radeon X800XL is waiting for a good PCI Express mobo...

That is the opposite I heard when I was younger, however, I would think what you said would be true, because if a French person was speaking to me in French, I'd have no clue what they were saying, and would prefer, that even if it was poor English, I could make sense of what they were saying.

So, sounds like I'll be needing to learn some French before going on a trip to France!

I think it would be better, even if you only knows a few words of french, to try to speak french with some french poeple, not always of course, but sometimes. I mean it's true for every country you travel. In general, people really appreciate when you try to speak the local language, no ?
And it doesn't matter wheter you're good or not, it's just the fact you try to speak the local language.

But don't worry many french people understand and speak English.

Good to know, thank you AD2019 and arswihart. I thought it was interesting, that when on our honeymoon in Canada, one of the most spoken languages there was French. Here in Texas, you almost need to know Spanish! My Spanish is very, very rusty, from high school, but I've considered learning it better, as it would be a good thing to be able to speak in Spanish here.

Hi, the first french guy is back. And there is a problem :
For the second french here, (je le fais en anglais histoire que tout le monde comprenne... ) , i'm sure you know LDLC.fr and what's a surprise look at this URL http://ldlc.fr/fiche/PB00027585.html and it's indicate "disponible" and it's also sell in Germany http://www.geizhals.at/eu/a129388.html

So who's right ?

Or the Asus's guy meant that the mobo will be available in the great majority of the specialized stores in the end of april ???

Because, if we trust LDLC.fr and the german site this mobo is already in europe ....

I usually thought ASUS stuff got released in Europe before the US. Interesting to see that the A8N-e is available here, finally but France has to wait another six weeks. I'm interested in the ASUS W3 notebook which was released in Germany two weeks ago and currently there is no release date for it in the US.

I thought he asked about the A8N-E Premium, and that's the date in April we were told about. I don't think he was talking about the A8N-E, am I right?

Edit.

Well, I went back and read it, and he doesn't specify the A8N-E, but the thread is about the Premium, so I'm guessing that is what he was talking about...

What board where you talking about AD2019?

héhé, you may be the first French from France, but not the first Frenchman speaking French has primary language. Think Big Sti! J'suis juste l'autre bord de l'Atlantique.
Hi, the first french guy is back.

I've also emailed ASUS France and ASUS UK to known when the nForce4 Ultra chipset motherboard will come out. It tooks 2 weeks to the French site to answer, to say it'll be this spring. The UK site anwsered within the hour, and told me it would not be available until the end of march.

I did not specified the Premium or not, but anyway the A8N-E is officially announced, but not available yet in store so... I bet they known what they're talking about.

HI guys,

Obviously, because of this thread's topic, i was speaking of the A8N-E Premium version of the board, not the regular one. And i think i was quite clear regarding my demand of the availability of this mobo at Asus France website.

So, the guy from asus France told me that the A8N-E PREMIUM will be available end of April.

Beside, i've seen that the regular A8N-E is already available in France but that's not a very great mobo...

The A8N-E Premium just adds 4 SATA ports (not SATA2) and onboard WiFi right? Its the same board with some added goodies.

I already have a WiFi connector and don't need more than 4 SATA2 ports. That is why I got the A8N-E over the A8N-E Premium.

Lack of additionnal SATA connectors, lask of Wifi, lack of Firewire 1394 port... I'm sorry, but for me, that's not a great mobo... That's a middle end product.

I disagree with you, I don't call a mobo great based on its features list. The engineering behind the A8N-E and Premium is the same, and if you don't use 1394, WiFi and 8 (!) SATA ports (my case btw) the A8N-E will do the exact same job. For instance, I would choose it over the ECS KN1 Extreme any day of the week, and that ECS board is cheaper with more features.

Yea, for example, I only have (or I should say "getting") one SATA drive for my new rig. Also, I have no use for Wi-Fi, because there are no other computers in my house (besides my current rig), eliminating the need for a wireless network, and lastly, I have no need for FireWire.
