That photo is old. And when and if the premium does come out It may very well not look like that.

One of those selling tactics you know? Sell all the SLI- Deluxe and Premium before they release it. How can they jump to Premium first without releasing the standard?

WOW! If that's the case......I've got 2 of those premium A8N-E's right here with me and I built another one for a friend!

And to think, I thought I was just getting the plain old A8N-E:
A8N-E Premium????

i would say ive pretty much given up on this board. come to think of it, the asus a8n-e isn't that bad of a board after all. i mean the only real thing it lacks is firewire ports and built-in wifi. those things can easily be amended with pci expansion cards.

Rofl. It's been nearly 6 months . I wouldn't rush ASUS, guys. The A8N-Sli was a disaster, becuase it came out so early.

The A8N-E (Standard) was good, except it doesn't have firewire.

Good point. But then I'd have to get one of those 'firewire adapters' for the iPod. I might as well buy a firewire card, or a different board . I'm uncomfortable with the idea of this board not being nForce4 "Ultra". Makes me feel bad :'(

They don't come with USB adapters? My friend's iPod did. I thought it was an nF4 Ultra as well...

The older ones didn't come with a firewire card .
In either case, I'm almost sure I'm getting the gigabyte. It's got firewire AND SLi for the price of this ASUS.

The thing that sort of drove me away was the loud northbridge fan on the asus.

Hmm, I guess......I've got a DFI SLI board and an old IS7 yet too and the DFI NB fan is equally as loud as the A8N-E and the IS7's NB fan is louder than both! LOL!

. I don' mind noise itself (there are limits to everything though), but it's just the high pitched noise that annoys me, like teachers writng with chalk on a blackboard oO!
