If A8N-E is a myth,then let's go with the standard A8N-E.
My first question: Is this mobo Rev. E Venice ready if bought from the retailer? SECOND : Does it need to be bios updated before the Venice CPU can be used? THIRD : Will the mobo boot up if Venice CPU is already installed?

Wow, if that's the "latest" bios......why does Asus.de have 1003.5 & 1004.1 already listed.... The dating on the 1003.4 is actually April 5th with the 1003.5 being April 17th and the 1004.1 being April 27th.

Anything 1003 and above support Venice and come loaded on new boards. The 1004.1 supports San Diego and has support for initial X2 chips.

Exactly, but if you want to O/C that Venice, you'll need the 1003.4 or even better, the 1003.5 and if you buy that SanDiego (like I should be receiving in a day or so) you'll have to have the 1004.1 or it will not be recognized correctly but will boot according to guys on other forums with this board!

On a side note, I just yesterday received an Abit AN8 Fatal1ty board I picked up for $168. I stuck a Winnie 3200+ in there and have to say, it is one heck of an overclocker! If prices continue to fall on this board, it will be a nice option too! I've had it up to 2.6 and O/C'ed my X800XT and the Otes fan(s) have only kicked on once along with the ram fans. All fans are controlable completely and besides for the commonly crappy Northbridge fan on ALL nForce 4 boards, this board is no louder than my A8N-E or my DFI SLI board. I use XP90 and all Panaflo 92mm & 120mm fans on the chip and for case fans though.......very nice, quiet systems aside from the Northbridge which I've chosen to control through a fan bus.

Hey guys, does anyone of you know, how the dual core X2 processor will do at overclock? I mean, are they going to be on Venice, San Diego or something else? Because I've seen a Venice 3200+ oc at 2.8GHz

I've also emailed ASUS UK at the same time has the above message, and here's the answer.

Dear Philippe,

Due to the release of the SLI chipset, the A8N-SLI Premium will be the next
motherboard released. The A8N-E Premium is not currently slated for UK
release in the next 2 months, but may well be in development.

Subject: ASUS A8N-E Premium ?

Hi, I would like to known if this motherboard will see the day soon, or if
it was cancelled.

See the link below, ASUS A8N-E Premium:

Thanks,
Philippe Hébert

So I'm concluding that they don't known what's going on with this board.

I called tech support at asus today and they said to expect the board by the end of may beginning of june. The tech said that he was waiting for the same board.
In another thread I read about 4 different ways to pronounce Asus.
The consensus was A-Zeus, it is A-Seus, not Heysus.

Ugh, no way! Jeese, the waiting game on the Venice / Rev E Athlon 64 cores and the A8N-E Premium boards have been horrible. Rumors and/or promises for both were for months ago!

I give up on the A8N-E Premium. I'm going to be ordering the standard A8N-E next week.

ps- just curious- what country's tech support did you call? us? uk?

can someone clear this up for me.
I am getting a A8N-E, is there a bios for the venice core that will let it work properly right now? Is the problem you guys are talking about only for the A8N-E premium?

oh and What does the "premium" have that the normal one doesn't?

That is the same question I'm asking the retailers beacause I was planning to buy the A8N-E standard. I sent one e-mail to newegg and xpcgear about this mobo and asking them if bios 1003 is what's in that mobo they're selling. Up to now, there's no reply. If A8N-E Premium
is going to come out on end of may/early june, I bet you that mobo will be Rev. E ready. Endgame said that he bought 3 of this mobo and it boot up with the Rev. E Venice. But for me, I want to confirm it with the retailers before I'd get one.
The difference between the standard and the Premium will be the WiFi and passive cooling for the chipset. In terms of Bios? I don't know.

Again, we're still not sure if this mobo will really come out at the end of the month or early june or this mobo is just a myth. I would love to get the A8N-E Premium also but it's still a big question if this is really coming out of the market.

Does anyone know if there are multiple hardware versions of the A8N-E? ...and if so, how do you identify the newest release?

Check the Asus website.

This is A8N-E and some are saying that there is a premium version coming out by the end of the month or early June. The difference between the two will be Passive heatsink on NB and WiFi for the Premium version.
I can still wait since I'm still reviewing the OC results of Rev. E S939.
You want to hear how loud the NB fan? Check this.

http://www.omnicast.net/~tmcfadden/A8N-E.AVI

If it's too loud for you, you can change it for something sweet NB fan.

Assuming the A8N-E Premium is going to be released, how likely is it that it will have passive cooling on its Northbridge? I don't believe the A8N-SLI Premium is passively-cooled (but I don't recall anyone saying it would be). Maybe the nForce4 SLI needs more cooling than the nForce4 Ultra.
