I havent modded my sapphire yet since my pc isnt connected to internet yet. It will be in a few weeks. Now my x800 standard and oc'ed is capable fine. Memory divider will not be able to run @ 333 mhz, since that'll be above 250 mhz effective bandwith and my mem only goes to 210 or 215 or something. That's low i know but with 9x312 it suffizes perfectly and i've got the best value for money system possible almost. My x800 will be modded soon but on the internet there are enough stories about the mod so let's not go offtopic here. So evryone had the problem and bios update will fix it for sure?
That's why i went for the certainty of buying a second hand of one of the first 3000+'s. 210 mhz on the memory and 2808 mhz on the cpu combinated with 3x multiplyer will result iin maximal value for money. Combinate it with a x800 @ x850 xt (maybe PE) and u'll have the ultimate value for money gaming system.
I'll try the bios update soon though my floppy drive doesnt seem to work yet. Anyone got tips on how to get a floppy drive to work. Everything in my install went perfect. Power is on the floppy drive and the FDD cable is connected properly. It still isnt shown when booting in bios. is there any driver necessary or something?
It doesnt suck at my place, i can put it on 333 @ 200 mhz effective dual channel and that is exactly just as well performing as 266@ 200 mhz effective due to highter oc'ed FSB. they will be the same if u keep the effective bandwith at the same frequency. U'll probably be running a lower effective memory speed with 266 and ur cpu top frequency is probably not able to make up for the loss.Originally posted by: pedramrezai
Hey newcomer,Updating to more recent bios resolves the issue.however, sticking ram to anything other than 333 & 400 sucks on my board,I wish you don't have such problem.one last hint is to go with crucial value rams as they are capable of DDR500 easily.did you mod your x800GTO2 to 16 pipelines? let me know as I'm considering it as an upgrade.
