Running stock without difficulty, nice and cool and quiet. Thanks again guys!

Cmon people, help a brother out. This board is picky about its RAM. What would you guys recommend? Keeping in mind that it is incompatible with Samsung UCCC and I desire DDR500 of 2x1gb that is under 200(after rebates).

i'm using a Samsung RAM right now (g.skill - if i'm not mistaken they're made by Samsung)

r u going to OC? if ur really worried about compatibility, go with Corsair

Asus + Corsair = Butt Buddies

I was thinking about these TWINX2048-4000PT, but they are made with Samsung too...

no offense, but i ain't feeling it

that's just ghetto

when i replace my northbridge, ima put a fanless zalman

So, instead of being cool you just prefer to look cool. NB-wise I'm saying.

FEAR, COD2, or BF2 will make your motherboard cry.

Not that I'm planning to OC, but I'm glad to hear this. So far this has been my experience as well. My newer rig (with this mobo) currently has 1 GB of the CMX-3200C2 (as two 512 MB modules) and I'm planning to add a second GB as a 1 GB DIMM of the same stuff (2.5-3-3-6 on an AMD based board). My older rig has a gig of Corsair XMS PC2700 RAM on an A7N8X Deluxe and it works like a charm, super stable.

Ok Guys, I got my new stuffs.

No more system hanging while big file transfer to my USB enclosure

Good bye to Abit.. However few questions

My current rig:
. ASUS A8N-E (ver-2.0) NF4 Ultra(BIOS 2010)<==========
. AMD 64 3800+ X2
. OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) OCZ4002048ELDCPE-K
. MSI RX800-TD128E
. PS - ENERMAX Noisetaker EG495P-485W
. Case - Thermaltake Tsunami VA3000SWA
. DVD RW ? Khypermedia - KDVRW8X
. XP Professional with SP2
. ATA-200GB SG/160GB SG/160GB WD
. UC-9FATR2 Card reader
. KDS 17" LCD

I see my RAM is running less than rated. Here are the values from cpu-z

167.9 MHz
CAS# : 2.5
RAS# to CAS# delay : 3
RAS# Precharge : 2
Cycle Time (Tras) : 5
Bank Cycle Time (Trc) : 10
DRAM Idle timer : 16

DDR V - 2.6 v

These values are default setting.
My memory's rated timing is 2-3-2-5, I see only the first value is not matching (i.e. CAS). I am new to overclocking, so I am not sure if 2-3-2-5 strings exactly corresponds to above top 4 things or not.

So my question is why can't I see the frequency as 200 as default. I tried changing these and I see the system not even boots.
Here is the things I tried on BIOS.
1. Changed to DDR400, made command from auto -> t1, HTT from Auto->3x
2. Changed to DDR400, made command from auto ->t2, HTT from Auto->3x

both failed. Does this mean I can never run my OCZ memory at rated 200Mhz? I paid more for these memory than my previous value ram those value ram was running at 235MHz on Abit mobo. I tried this memory on Abit board too, it was going max 217Mhz before prime95 fails.

Hi everyone, its been about 10 months since I put my rig together and lately its started to act up. A few weeks back it would reboot at random and I tried the memtest and everything looked fine but after trying each stick of ram separately I found that one stick is no longer booting up my PC, so with only the one stick of ram things were fine for a little while. Now at random points while I'm watching movies on my computer it would lock up and when I reboot it I would get a POST video card error. If I allow the system to stay off for a few minutes it then boots up fine till the next incident now I'm not certain if the videocard is the culprit or my motherboard has one foot in the grave.
I've forgot to mention when I put my rig together I removed the noisy NB fan and put in the zalman nb47J.

Any ideas/help would be appreciated.
Thanks

So I just updated my chipset drivers to 6.65 and I updated the bios to 1011 final, in that order. I used asusupdate for the bios in windows. The first time it reboot I forgot to disable the soundcard in the bios, so windows loaded and my hercules driver and controller were no longer existent. The funny thing however is that my hercules digifire soundcard is not being recognized anymore. I have disabled the onboard but I cannot get my soundcard to show up. When I check my hardware there are a bunch of Legacy drivers that I can't uninstall. I have tried switching PCI slots and uninstalling the hercules program and everything but still no luck...Any ideas guys.

Please do read the description before updating BIOS
To avoid crashing file system, please do update the chipset driver to below version prior to this Bios.
For WinXP 32bit system, please download and update chipset drivers V6.65 or later
For WinXP 64bit system, please download and update chipset drivers V6.65 or later
For Win2k/2003 32bit system, please download and update chipset drivers V6.66 or later
For Win2003 64bit system, please download and update chipset drivers V6.66 or later
1- Fix sometimes asusupdate will show Unknown flash.
2- Update awdflash to v1.16 to avoid the system BIOS being downgraded
3- Add an option in the Bios to Enable/Disable "Wake up from S1/S3/S4".
4- Fixed instant Music function fail issue.

I just flashed from 1010 to the 1011 final. I've yet to find the "wake up from s2/s3/s4" option in the bios. Has anyone else located it?

prior to this: i have been watching movies for a week or two, i shut off my comp and i came back home started up comp and boom ... they were gone???

it recognizes it thru device manager, but it has a yellow ! on it but it doesn't show on My Computer nor when i put a media in my drives

when i double click the drives it says
Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

things i've tried:

reversed the roles of master/slave
using just 1 drive
i was able to boot by cdrom thru bios (so it did recognize a media - but i don't care for bios, i want thru windows)

OK, here's another noob question. Does this motherboard have any kind of onboard video? I signed up for EVGA's step up program and will be mailing in my video card soon. Will I be able to do anything with my computer while waiting for the new card? I'm not talking about playing games, just simple stuff like being able to send e-mail.

No, there is no onboard video. You will need a video card -- even an cheap old PCI video card will work while you wait for your new one. Otherwise you will be dead in the water.

I was afraid of that. Oh well, thanks for the response.
