Now don't hurt yourself Insomniak! Wear a seat belt at all times.

All I can afford right now

Anyway, the basic green works fine, although the board wants to feed it a ton of juice. On Auto, it gives it 2.75, even though the ram is meant for 2.5 according to specs. So far it's been taking it...gonna prime it tomorrow and see how everything is.

The board was a great buy though - easy install, not a single hitch booting up. As a matter of fact, I only have one thing to toubleshoot at the moment...according to Nvidia's driver screen, my PEG link is only at 8x. I know this has no impact on real world performance, as it's pretty much the same as AGP8X in terms of bandwidth, but I would like to know why the card isn't getting the full 16 lanes...

And before anyone mentions it, yes the selector is set to single video card.

System:
A64 3000+ Winchester
1GB Mushkin Basic Green PC3200
Leadtek PCIe GeForce 6600GT

Preliminary 3dmark03 (have not tweaked OS, started OCing, etc.):

Kingston HyperX PC3200 (512 x 2) at stock timings (2-3-2-6-1T) works great on my A8N-SLI. I haven't done any overclocking.

Here is a link to the ram.

Name: Corsair TWINX1024-4400C25
CPU: Winchester 3000+
Speed: PC4400
Timings: Default from spd 2.5-4-4-8 (I run 240X9 2.5 3 3 8 t1, haven't tinkerd to much with low timeings)
Voltage: Default 2.75
Chip: TCCD
Dual: Yes
Size: 512MB
Quantity: 2

Can't seem to go over 240mhz with T1 times and 1:1 ratio on this a8n, just like everybody else. I'm praying that it's a bios fix, If not. Hello ebay, goodbye a8n. I need a SLI board that can handle 295mhz with good memory settings.

having issues with my rig (a8n-sli-d,3500,corsair xms pro 3200s

ran fine for a week after setup, but this was due to not utilizing system and pressing a full load. weekend came and after loading doom3 and prince of persia, and ut2004. all games crashed with BSOD, mem dumps.

checked bios...
system is set on quiet and cool, running 32-34c idle temps. no oc'ing done. bios set to auto. tried manually configuring dram setup to 2.2.2.5 @1t... noticed mem was set to 200mhz on auto??? changed to 400mhz. games now sort of play, but game integrity is comprimised: sluggish motion, flickering and motion clipping going on. still occasionally crashes. while games are in play windows task manager is showing cpu usage at 100% constant.

bought another video card to test, swapped... and same problem.

pulled mem channel a, same problem. swapped b out with other ddr module, same problem.

i am assuming this is a memory issue, and thanks to this article i see it isnt a compatibility issue, but if anyone has a suggestion or similar problems plz chime in.

***also, my ez selector card was dual card side in slot, even though the manual says it comes factory for single use. to make it more confusing the dumb bastard in charge of the user manual used a picture of the dual card side in the selector right next to where it says "the factory sets ez-selector card for single use"

maybe im just going nuts with these problems but single side should be facing the blue pci-e, right?

or kingston hyper x pc3500 ram? DDR433, I have ordered it. At least Kingston Value Ram Kit(1gig) CL2.5 works, manual tells only about CL3 support, I'm traiding this to that hyper x.

My Auto settings for Ram make my stystem totally unstable with 2 sticks at DDR400 - largely to do with Voltage - Auto is 2.6v I needed to put it to 2.65V and everything seems fine now.

Maybe this is why alot of people's systems are crashing when they leave everthing stock in Bios + and they use 2 sticks of ram

Currently running my 2X 512MB Crucial Ballistix PC3200 at 2.5-3-3-8, 3.0 V, 228 MHz using DDR333 divider with system at 275 MHz & HTT multi 3X. I had all sorts of trouble getting the system past 240 MHz until I lowered the HTT multi to 3X AND raised Vcore to 1.6 and Vdimm to 3.0. Running solid now and happy that this memory can take the heat!
