ASUS A8N SLI Deluxe Problem

I built a system with an A8N SLI Deluxe mobo for my brother with a single videocard, and it wont boot. I get no video from the monitor (which I know works), and a beep code with one long beep followed by two short beeps. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this problem?

As the beep-codes are not documented anymore, hook up speakers and listen to the voice reporter

That beep code is a video error. Make sure the card is seated in the slot. Also make sure you are using the pci xpress slot this is closest to the CPU. Make sure you have SLI turned off in the bios.

and I imagine you'll find the answer...of course, hooking up speakers will work if the voice error thing is enabled in the bios.

I have just put together a A8N SLI deluxe mb with kingston hyperx pc3200 2 X 1GB DDR and amd x2 3200+ cpu, no video on first power up. Have verified all connections. Have tried different ram in different slots. Asus manual shows DDR dual sided to go into A1 and BI. I am utilizing a GFORCE 6800 GS PCI EXP. Any ideas?

did you guys make sure ths sli card (i dont mean the graphics card, but the little pcb that sits between the pci-e slots) is in the single card postion and not the dual card position?

I have another post that is similar to this. I had a 7800GT working my my motherboard with the selector in single mode. My brother bought another motherboard which is identical but couldn't get video out of it until we switched the selector to dual.

You might try switching that selector card around. Sure, it drops you to 8x per slot but it doesn't seem to hit the performance at all and that's what it does in SLI mode anyway.

Tks for that hint. Tried reversing sli card, no joy. I will take apart and rebuild pc. Maybe there is a short somewhere, but green led displays and all fans run. I have never run across this kind of scenario before.

1) check to see if your video card requires any type of power cable connection into it

2) if you haven't done so already... be sure to plug a power connector into the EZ-Plug connector on your mobo...

3) try booting using only 1 stick... if that doesn't work then try the 2nd stick alone as well..

Did you plug the P4 power cable in to the motherboard's P4 power port?

Picked up a new mobo, A8N-E. Installed it, and no post. Only thing I haven't changed yet is the chasis and thermtake TR2 500W ATX 12V. Any more ideas?

Changed to a ANTEK case vice SILVERTEK LCM10 MULTIMEDIA, all working. Its amazing that once case can cause so much headache. Wiring connections to mobo are very mickey mouse and was probably shorting my mobo. Stay away from SILVERTEK if you can help it. I contacted SILVERTEK directly yesterday and they sounded very stunned and unsure of there own product. WIll return case to FROZENCPU.COM and that was my first experience with junk.

I CASE= 140.00
2 VIDEO CARDS= 600.00
15 HRS LABOUR = 300.00

Buying a simple tower and loading BF2= Priceless!!!!!!!!!

Well, I saw your guys posts here and decided to pitch in. First off, what happened to you guys, happened almost identically to me.

I was just chilling out playing Call of Duty 2 one day when bam everything shut off. I powered on and got no post. So I thought crap, my ati x1800 went out. So I called ATI and they agreed that was the problem. so I bought an x1900, this time with a 3 year warranty. And when it finally got back, no post again.

So in my feat of rage I called asus, and amd, about getting my board fixed. I wasn't sure if it was the processor or board as I didn't have another processor just laying around, and I had tried everything I could on the board. So I thought heck, why not get them both replaced. So I spent 20 bucks to send both back to the appropriate places, they should be arriving their today and shipping back.

Apparently I'm not the only one who bought this board and for the first time in history, had problems with an asus board. Tons of people are having problems getting the board to post, so they send the board back, and a replacement comes with no issues. I don't know if it's a flaw in the board or what, but this really is hurting Asus's image. So, I'm waiting on my new board in the mail as we speak and thought I'd save you some of the heartache.

Also to note, a lot of other users are having to send the board back to asus as soon as they get it because it doesn't support their processor. So I guess it coulda been worse. Just wish I would of held off on buying this board instead of trusting asus as I'm use to like most of the community.
