Hey. I am using the Asus A8N SLI DELUXE mobo with the on board Realtek AC'97 sound. I also have a M-Audio Delta 1010 sound card.
My question is does anyone else here have microphone issues with this board? I can't get any microphones to work, but they work on my old PC. I tried to disable the onboard sound, but the mics still don't work.
The problem is with two mics. First the Plantronics DSP 500 USB headset. I can plug them in and use them for about 5 minutes before getting this nasty static and interference in the earphones. After that starts about a minute later any sound at all cuts out. I can unplug the headset to get rid of the interference in the earphones, but the sound doesn't come back. I have to restart the CD/GAME/DVD.
The second mic is a regular microphone that gets plugged in to the jack on the motherboard. When I try to set this one up I get a similar issue. No response from the microphone and the same type of interference in the earphones.
I have no clue what is causing this or how to go about fixing it. I just built this PC two days ago and have had sound issues from the begining.
When I set the M-Audio Delta 1010 as my primary device and disbale the AC'97 onboard I still get the interference issue with the Plantronics USB headset. So I'm not sure if it's the onboard or not. I can't test the other microphone because the Delta 1010 only has stereo inputs. The microphone is the standard 1/8 in jack.
Any help on this issue would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
P.S. When I move the mouse or click, it seems to make the interference in the USB headset worse.
