I know some members have gotten theirs already... Mine doesn't come till Monday.

So how is the board performing?!?!?

Hi Demo,

The wait is sort of agonizing because I spent months researching and buying new parts piece by piece for my new "dream" machine (and my 1st AMD). I've been taking my time over the last 3 months and still will not finish the machine for about another 6 weeks or so. Since I will be watercooling, I'm to the point now where I needed the motherboard so I can cut the remaining tubes to the correct lengths.

So far I've gotten:
Dell 2001FP 20.1 Inch LCD Monitor (1600x1200, 16ms response)
Lian-Li V2000B case with side window
OCZ Powerstream 470W power supply (I took it apart and sleeved every power cable)
Asetek Water Cooling System (CPU, Chipset, and 2 video cooling blocks. Hydor L30 Pump. 2 Radiators)
Matrix Orbital MX432 4 line LCD (White lettering on blue background)
and Misc internals (pax-mate, cold cathodes, etc.)

I've tried to get the stuff that doesn't change much over time 1st. The last pieces that I buy will be the Processor and the Video Cards. I will probably go with the FX-53 for the CPU, and two 6800GTs. So far the only PCI-Express 6800GT I have seen that is available is the XFX at newegg, but they want $495!!! I'm hoping it drops to about $375 or so in January.

So, although I can't "use" the Motherboard on Monday, I can continue on with my build (finish routing the watercooling and leak test the system).

Mine comes in Monday as well..... I haven' bought any graphics cards yet, I've been looking for a pair of PCI-E 6800 GTs, but I'll probably have to settle for a pair of 6600 GTs.

Hello To all of you,
What I am looking for are real reviews of Asus A8N SLI or you people are just buying the board without reading reviews.
Well if you can point me to any such reviews then please give me links so I can also makeup my mind.
I have a month or two to make up my mind.
Bye.

Where is the best place to buy this motherboard? I decided to go with this one after thinking hard about AGP bs PCIe in the long run.

Mines up and running. Booted up like a charm.... no problems whatsoever. I may be one of the very small minority running an ATI card on an SLI board but I didn't feel like waiting more weeks for a non-SLI version.

Anyway, time to download some drivers/bios etc.....not much else to report yet.

The waiting ends tomorrow for me! Like many of you I started buying parts for my new build months ago, and decided to wait for the nforce4 mobos. And waiting and waiting and WAITING! Nvidia has really kept the hype machine going to keep us on the hook this long.

i dont want SLI, and i also dont want to buy the next best mobo/brand coming along for twice the MSRP.

I really need to see reviews where they compare the Asus/MSI/Gigabyte in terms of overclocking.

I bought OCZ 3200 rev2 and i really dont want them to crank out at 240 FSB/HTT because the board cant handle it. I need to know whether the board i am getting is a good overclocker. Also..i am kinda p****d that the SLI boards come out first. I dont give a **** about SLI, in a few months ATI R520 will come out and i'd rather prefer this than some low-level SLI solution. (my opinion).

Please anyone post more links to nforce 4 reviews

thanks !

I'm really interested in the new r520 as well. I think its a certainty it will if not cream, spank the 6800ultra . And ATI has said they will be supporting SLI, plus I think it will be out well before nv's new cards. I'm sure nvidia is just going to release a higher clock 6850 or 6900 type deal not a whole new card yet. So I'm waiting to a) see which 939 sli board turns out to be the best with least issues and b) see just how bad the new ati card will best the 6800ultra's

Where are you buying this board already? I haven't seen it at any of my typical component sites.

uh, the R520 is gonna be competing with a 24-pipe GDDR4 monster from nvidia, so it's not like nvidia is gonna be sitting still. I don't know who will win, but since nvidia scrapped 2 designs to go with the NV47, it seems pretty certain that this new design will be able to compete with R520. Oh, well, whatever, i'm just hoping that the companies will continue to put lots of energy into the mainstream market, which they finally managed to do this time around. If not, i'll just SLI my 6600GT for a cheap upgrade.

They appear to be in limited release. Several vendors have listed them in small quantities and sell out almost immediately! Alot of price gouging going on! Some charging $300-$400 , I think ASUS set the MSRP @ $219. Several of us watching this forum got lucky wednesday night and snagged one for just over $200. My guess is by the first of the year they should be widely available and prices should drop to $200 or less.
