1. To be on the safe side, I would set the clock back to default before installing the second card. I'm pretty sure the overclock would be applied to teh second card as well and that brings to question what will happen if the second card can't handle the overclock.

2. I don't have a recomendation for you here. It's possible running SLI will reduce your OC due to increased power consumption.

3. You can leave this set at Auto or change it to SLI mode yourself, either way should be fine. I left mine set at Auto. The only 'trick' I noticed is that there is a setting in the performance and quality settings that is easily overlooked. You have to enable the advanced settings, then scroll all the way to the bottom to an entry called SLI rendering mode. By default, it is set to Single-GPU rendering mode for some reason. Change it to multi-GPU.

That's about all I can think of. Hope it helps.

user1234, I hope you were joking with your reply. Why would you criticize these perfectly valid questions. As I recall from another post of yours, you have the hardware ordered on the way (strangely enough, after basically calling this overpriced, problematic hardware in another post) and aren't running one of these boards yet so how could you pretend to know the answers to these questions?

IF anyone gets an Audigy to work on this baord, please lemme know the details here. Still no dice with mine.

I had no problems getting mine running. I noticed that when installed in PCI slot 3, it was sharing an IRQ with my video cards so I uninstalled it, moved it to slot 2 and reinstalled it and it's got it's own IRQ now and is working fine.

My Audigy2 ZS works great here, never had even a single issue. It is installed in pci slot #3 and my system is 100% stable (and fast!).

My system has been very inconsistent with the Audigy 2 ZS installed! I just emailed Asus about it for help. I'm running the 1003.5 bios, I was wondering if the issue was related to the PCI-lock when overclocking.

I have had the card working perfectly and the system was running flawlessly, then all of a sudden it will start hanging, then it won't finish booting, and progressively gets to the point where it won't even POST unless I remove the Audigy completely and discharge the CMOS manually. It just happened to me again after I got it working (though it sometimes wouldn't successfully reboot). I'm probably going to try reverting to the last released BIOS version and leaving everything at stock speeds. Of course, it seems to randomly work fine anyway, which makes it hard to troubleshoot

Everything seems to work just dandy without the card in. Godamnit.

I'm also curious what BIOS version you guys are running.

Hey, I had the exact same problem! The first day I got the mobo, I had to reinstall Windows twice. I thought the problem was that I was using a 20-pin power supply, so I bought a 24-pin power supply. I thought that fixed the problem, but the next day it crashed again. After a while I noticed that there were a lot of disk errors appearing in the event viewer. The bios made no difference. In fact, I went back to 1002.

So I fought it for about a week, thinking that I got a bad mobo. But over the past few days, the Windows hanging and disk errors "faded away." Then the nVidia network port went out, and I was sure I had a bad mobo. But then I noticed the network port problem was the same thing as posted here, so I fixed that.

Now about three days have passed with no more problems. Did the mobo heal itself? I hope so...

Here's my current specs (in the sig):

I haven't been having any disk errors, although my onboard 1394 controller wasn't functioning with the Audigy installed.

My problem seemed to fade away also for the most part, other than the reboot problems, then it started all over.

This second time was when I tried installing the cool n quiet drivers and I got a BSOD twice trying to use iTunes. I noticed that my vcore was only at 1.1v which it obviously wasn't liking. Unfortunately this also seemed to cause my sound card problem to break out again.

I suppose my disk errors and the Windows hanging/not booting could have been two separate problems. You know, one thing that I have done differently this time was not install the Cool & Quiet drivers... I wonder could that have something to do with it?

I just got my asus, I built the computer, turned it on, and I have no video. Instead, It gives me a long beep, a pause, a long beep, and I turned it off. Any ideas what the problem could be?

Vedder323,
I'm running an Audigy2 ZS in the 2nd to last slot with onboard sound disabled and bios 1003-005. No problems with this configuration. I do recall having some conflicts between the Audigy2 ZS and onboard sound in either the first or second PCI slot and BIOS 1002. I wouldn't give up quite so easily.

are you running two cards 6800gt or ultra? If so, do you have the power connector plugged in next to the sli cards? Do you have the power connectors hooked to video card?

I had a similar issue... and it turned out that one of my memory modules was bad. Try just one at a time in the "B1" slot.

I have one Leadtek winfast 6600GT. It doesn't have anything to plug power to.

I've noticed a few things. I can hit numlock and the numlock light comes on. I can hit the capslock and the capslock comes on. I hit cntrl-alt-delete and it seems to reboot. Does this mean a bad video card? Why the beeps?

I did some more head scratching, some more debugging, and it turns out I am an idiot.

The problem was with the EZ selector card that is used to select whether or not you are using one or two video cards. When I installed the motherboard, I noticed that it was set to dual and I only had one video card. So I took it out, switched it around, and put it back in. Unfortunately for me, I didn't seat it properly so it was only partially in. I figured this out by taking it out and booting up. The motherboard booted fine without the card. I then put it back in properly and it booted up fine.

Maybe not an idiot, but certainly non-dextrous.

Oh well, thanks for reading my posts. It gave me a chance to step back and think.

I have an Audigy 2zs Platinum, and I've no issues what so ever. Not quite sure how to help you out, but I installed the sound card in the lowest slot. Then after installing XP, I updated to SP2, installed the ethernet drivers, updated XP through Microsoft (security updates only), installed chipset drivers, and all other drivers and utilities from the ASUS web site, filled in the missing drivers from the supplied cd, (did not install cool and quiet), then finally nvidia video drivers. Next, after there were no more warnings in the device manager other that the sound card, I installed the factory Creative drivers and immediately updated from Creative's web site. Computer is stable, (haven't over clocked yet), and the sound card works fine.

ok... toar everything apart and started from scratch. After everything was loaded, I tried the card in the 3rd slot. Nothing... system boots but moniter wont come on. Try the 2nd... same. 3rd same. Take the card out and boot... same. Clear Cmos... nothing. Clear again nothing. Threaten to pour acid on the mobo, clear cmos again... and here I am. No sound. Fanfreakin-tastic.

What really cracked me up with Asus tech support is the fact that they didnt even bother trouble shooting with me... they just gave me an RMA number. Makes me wonder...

Glad to see some people got lucky.

I am curious... Does anyone know if I buy a new one from Zipzoomfly (place I bought this) and then send this one in... will they take that as an RMA?

Well, I had two problems. Not only wasn't that EZ selector seated properly, one of my DIMMs is bad. I stick it in and I get no video and beeps. I take it out, put the EZ selector in improperly, I get a different beep pattern and no video. I put the ez selector in properly and I boot.

Ok, last post (at least till I get some sleep).

It wasn't bad ram. It seems slot A1 is bad. I put the ram I thought was bad into B1 and it booted. I then took the ram that had been in B1 that I was sure was good and stuck it in A1 (with the other DIMM in B1 still) and it beeped with no video.

********Do not enable command queing if you have a SATA Maxtor DiamondMax 10**********

I thought I would warn everyone because I just had to reformat my hard drive and reinstall windows because I tried to enable command queing on my DiamondMax10. Aftern enabling it and rebooting, I was never able to get back into Windows. I kept getting the same error "lsass.exe not found". I have my DiamondMax connected to the Nvidia SATA controller, and even if I switched connectors or even tried to use the Silicon SATA controller, I still got the same error.

I don't know what causes this problem, but according to the other A8N-SLI thread, I am not the only one who has had problems enabling command queing with a DiamondMax 10. Hopefully a bios update will fix this problem.
