Asus A8N-SLI Premium Voltage and Temp issues

I recently bought an Asus A8N-SLI Premium to replace my now dead DFI NF4 SLI Infinity and I noticed that the voltage selection is not as robust. In the manul it states voltage changes up to 1.650 however with my X2 3800+ I can only get up to 1.500v. I've read and Asus FAQ and it said it will only increase voltages to a maximum of .15v over stock.

I was wondering if there was any way around this since I need 1.6v to get my 3800+ stable at 2.7ghz.

Second question I had is do CPU's run hotter on the Asus vs DFI? Reason I think so is the CPU temperature under load is 48 with 2.6ghz @ 1.500v. On my DFI, it used to load at 38 degrees with 2.7ghz @ 1.600v. My 12v line also seems to be down to 11.90v where on the DFI it used to be at 12.01v.

Has anybody heard of this issue? Is there a fix?

I recall seeing a Hardware hack some months back about boosting the CPU voltage. I don't think it was on this Site and unfortunately I can't
remember where exactly it was - like I said, it was some months back.

As for your CPU temp there are two things. You may need to redo your thermal compound (AS5 or similar), or it could just be a variance
between temperature Diodes. I've seen the same make/model MB have different readings on this, even when CPU/RAM etc. are the same.

While this is a great MB, 2.7GHz on a 3800+ may be a stretch. The DFI's the best for high OCs, but they (DFI) just make me leary.

First question: The Asus boards are more limited in vcore, the max is preset and determined by the core, it will give a 130nm chip 1.65, 90nm(1.5 - 1.55 depending on chip), but CPU-Z and other monitoring programs always shows a little higher 90nm(1.57-1.60). You can do a hardmod to the board that will up the volts

Second question: IMO Your chip is not running hotter, the boards read the temps differently
In my personal experience DFI's always read temps low, and Asus's are normally more accurate to an external probe. And 48c at full load is perfectly normal with high end air cooling.

Thanks for the answer on the first question, maybe I'll just have to get a DFI SLI-DR to get the higher volts I like this Asus board though, layouts great and heatpipes++

48c is good for high end air... unfrotunately I'm running high end water cooling which is why I figure somethings not right. I've also heard Asus generally report higher temps though so I guess as long as its stable.

Yeah I think your ok with those temps. The truth be known none of the mobo's are very accurate with temps, you just have to take it as a general guideline
