ASUS A8N-SLI Single Graphics Card Install

I'm attempting to install my graphics card into this mobo but I'm a little confused by the documentation that accompanied it. I've got all my components except for my PS (RMA'd my dual rail Blue Storm for a single rail Antec True550). Anyway, I think that it should go into the PCIeX16_1 slot (blue) and the EZ selector should be positioned in such a way that the "Single Video Card" arrow should be pointing towards that slot.

My confusion comes from section 6.2.1 of the users guide where it states:

"Your motherboard package comes with a pre-installed ASUS EZ selector card. By default, the card is set for a single graphics card. To use two graphics cards on this motherboard, you must first set the selector card to Dual Video Cards."

So, if this is the case then I should leave the EZ selector in the original position with the "Dual Video Cards" arrow pointing towards the blue PCIeX16_1 slot and install my graphics card in the blue PCIeX16_1 slot.

Is anyone out there using a single graphics card in this board? If so, how did you install it. Thanks.

Correct. The manual is wrong. Most of the boards come with the selector card set to dual mode. Simply insert the card to single mode, clear the cmos, and install your video card in the top PCI-E port.

For clarification then.

You do need to change the switch from Dual to Single before you install a single graphics card.

i didnt clear the cmos and my monitor gets no signal could this be the problema nd if so how do i clear the cmos?

ok, I set the video card selector in the single position (facing up) and reset the CMOS and I am still not getting a signal to the monitor. I'm not getting a posting sound either. Any suggestions anyone?

For the above poster. To reset the CMOS 1) turn off the power 2) unplug the cord 3) remove the large round battery towards the bottom of the board 4) there is a jumper to the right of the battery, move the jumper from the first 2 pins to the last two pins (left to right) for 10 seconds 4) put jumper back and turn on power

The selector needs to be inserted with the single arrow pointing into the selector slot for single card use. Then the card needs to be placed in the upper PCI-E port for single card use.

You technically dont have to set it to single. Setting it as single just turns the slot into a 16X slot instead of 8.

I tried to set it to single when I first built this one, but ran into a remarkable number of problems, so I just left it on dual.

Got it going. It wasn't clear to me in the instructions that the 4 pin power connector also had to be connected to the motherboard. Read up on this on another post. thanks
