Nice board. Am more of a guy that perfer a board that can hold a stable high maximum FSB overclock then a few percentage point off on the benchmark. There isnt much for me to woot about in 1-3% on general performance of board on STOCK settings. Generally 1 or 2 mhz overclock can overshadow that 1-3% performance gaps.

325mhz OC is what will eventually led me to buying this board.

Yeah, it looks like a plain jane mobo...but under that ugly dirty yellow PCB is a monster waiting to be unleashed :evil:

As much as i dislike Asus...this A8R-MVP is now my top candidate to replace my Neo2 when i decide to go PCI-e

This board looks very interesting. I was pretty much set on the Ultra-D but that overclock is amazing and it's fanless too. I'll definitely be waiting on this.

I guess you can't use SLI on these boards though, right?

Isn't Abit in a heap'o'financial'trouble? I'd see if that gets resolved before dealing with them. you dont want to suddenly learn ABIT is out of BI and will no longer provide warranty and bios updates.

yeah, it looks like crap compared to the DFI or other black ones (they could have at least made it green), but if the performance is there then who cares.

Three things make this board amazing:

high overclock with stock SILENT chipset cooling
HD audio on board for those of us who have our PCI slots taken up by massive VGA coolers
great price

For single video card setups can i put the single card in just the top pci-e slot vs the bottom blue one? Sucks for me cause i need 3 pci slots and my pci-e graphics card takes 2 slots.

Seems like a stupid design to put PCIE-slot No1 closest to the normal PCI-slots.

So, do you have to use PCIE-slot No1 if you are running non-sli or can it run single mode on PCIE-slot No2?

A few places like Buy.com have them for pre/back-order. I guess they will be shipping sometime in the next week or two. Looks like a very nice product and I may consider it as I was waiting for a nice, affordable X-fire based board.

Asus Crossfire A8R-MPV runs two X1300s without a master card!! Will other Ati cards work? How exciting would it be to run two $150 GTO^2 unlocked to XTPE's!?!?

I'm tempted to jump on both board and another GTO..but they say update is coming.

Radeon X1300 and X1600 Won't Need Master Cards So far, its only X1300 and X1600, so you'll need a master card for X800/X850 crossfire still.

My friend, you have many many posts, but if you have seen a GTO^2 for $150, I want some of what you're smoking. The GTO (no ^2) has been that low, but the Connect3D that also unlocked (although to x800xt not x850xt) doesn't seem to unlock anymore.

Hello everybody.

I am new to this forum, I decide to join here because it has the most info on the A8R-MVP.

I just ordered myself an Opteron 148 and the OCZ rev2 memory, and will soon be purchasing this mobo.

My question is this, this board has the following RAID controller

Onboard SATA/RAID 4 SATA2 Drives by ULi M1575
(RAID 0, 1, 1+0, 5, JBOD)

What I want to know will it be possible to have 2 SATA drives setup as RAID for my OS and the other 2 setup as RAAID for lets say my backups and movies?

I know I can setup all 4 drives as RAID and then partition them, but this is not what I want to do, I need to have 2 distinct partitions C:/ and D:/, so that if I need to reformat my C:/ it wont affect my D:/

Or this is not possible and to do this I would need a board with 2 diffrent RAID controllers?

Hi Ravah, welcome to the forums! I do believe that you CAN set up 2 distinctly seperate raid arrays with the on board controller.
