Asus A8V Deluxe V Abit AV8 Via

I am building a new MoBo + CPU for my sys (1g DC pc3200 ram + SATA + 6800NU). Which of these MoBos is better. Every review I have read places these two boards very close. The Abit is a little cheaper. I would like some real world opinions.

Abit is better built.... but they are about the same really. If you're overclcoking neither is really good, get an nvidia board.

I think they're both very good boards (even if you're overclocking), but in that regard the ASUS is a little better. If you check AnandTech's roundup it lost to the MSI K8N Neo2 by 1MHz (289 and 290 IIRC).

Soltek definately less expensive than both Abit and Asus

I've built systems using both boards. The ABIT gets the edge on features. However, given ABIT's current financial state, I'd go with the ASUS for the time being.

I have been looking at the same boards. I have always had good luck with Asus, but you may want to check out the post at Overclockers Forum I found it last night. I think if I decide on the Asus, I will wait until the Bios problem is sorted

abit does not have any stability problems, its great for that purpose, for overclocking the fsb really can't go over 260 fsb at all, im stuck around 254-256 on my winchester 3000+. apparently, at that point the agp / pci lock for some reason stops working and i cannot run 3dapps any higher but i can boot into windows at like 285, but since the agp bus is being overclocked i definately wouldn't recommend it.

i went with the abit av8. not regretting it at all. im having zero problems with this board. temps are reporting fine as well.
