I had this board for about 6 months; no problems.

VIA chipsets are teh devil.

Never again.

I had to deal with all sorts of random unexplainable weirdness when i had my Asus K8V SE Deluxe.

Get yourself a nForce 3 mobo if you want to go AGP.

MSI Neo2 is certainly finickly, but great for OCing.
Epox has a good nForce 3 mobo as well.

And to all those saying don't get AGP, keep it to yourself.
It's well known that PCI-e is the way to go, but for those of us who have AGP video cards, selling the cards at a loss isn't always the best thing to do. Also, the nForce 3 platform is nice & mature, so any problems have already been identified for us beforehand

LoL - I decided on the VIA chipset after reading all the nForce 3 horror stories.

Guess you just can't win.

sorry to resurect this thread, but I'm very interested in this board myself. I find this entire ATI/Via thing very interesting as I have been running VIA and ATI together for years and only my current A7N8X is non Via. Like someone before posted I have an X800XL and was thinking about switch up to a faster processor. Not having to buy new drives is pretty important to me. If only there was a board that provided an Nvidia chipset board with ATA in the 64 bit AMD world.

i have one. it is a very nice board. it served me well. anyway, the only issue is with the hard drive controllers, if overclocking, you have to use the promise sata controller located at the bottom of the board. then, you have to enable it in the bios. this took a long time for me to figure out. it overclocks very well. i was able to max out the HTT.

I'm guessing this is not an issue if I'm not running SATA drives right?

I have a friend who has 3 of them on all 3 of his home systems.
He has had no problems at all!!

And why do people not read the entire post?

This person stated he wanted to stick with a AGP video card.

So why tell him to go PciE........lololol

Just a random warning: The AGP A8V does dual-core but the PCIe A8V-E does not (unless you get the SE version).

I highly recommend boards based on the via AMD64 chipsets, they are a lot better than their K7 offerings. I have two 754 via board and the chipsets are just fine. I/O is less than NVidia but basic performance (CPU, RAM) is better for me.
