I am having problems with my computer crashing during game play. It runs fine during tests like 3dmark05 (4600) and Aquamark (60,000), but during games it will crash regularly. I believe the problem is with the memory. I do not know what settings to put the memory at in the BIOS. It was set to 2.5. 3 3 7, but I think that is incorrect - even though the specs are for corsair value select RAM. It is now set to AUTO. Does anyone have suggestions for a more stable system? My power supply is fine (500 watt Xconnect running at stable temp and Voltages).

I am a newbie when it comes to this and would appreciate Layman explanations of what to do!! BTW, my system fails the mrsenne memory tests within the first hour every time.

Gee, more specs would be nice especially considering the fact that your video card or cmos setup may be the issue, and you offer no reason for suspecting the memory. If you're running an ATI card, try upping the AGP voltage.

Sorry,

AMD 64 3200 Venice
AGP GForce 6800 GT
Corsair Value Select 1 gig 2 x 512 paired RAM
ASUS A8VDeluxe MOBO

Please,
Any help would be great....I don't even know where to start looking in the CMOS to make the necessary changes.
Thanks,

Hey Laudas, i actually have the same mobo with the same ram and HAD the same problem . I fixed it by just setting the ram divider to AUTO. That way, the motherboard keeps your ram at or below stock 200mhz. It seems to me that the manual dividers you set in this asus a8v mobo are all jacked up. For example, i had my mem divider set to 3:2 at one point -- cpu-z would tell me i was running my ram below 200mhz but then memtest86 said 220mhz when i was running at a 3:2 divider. I forget what FSB i was running on my cpu at the time..but i think it was something close to 230. Right now i have my winnie 3000+ at 235 fsb which gives me 2115 mhz. Also, i have my ram set to auto and it runs at 195 mhz.

I also have my timming set to auto, just like you. But try setting your divider to auto if it isn't already. I hope this helps.

One more question, when you say crashes, do you mean that your computer just locked up solid and you had to restart? ...b/c thats the problem i was having.

I don't know anything about those ATI cards madthumbs was talking about, but i wouldn't mess with the AGP voltages if i were you. That might fry your Videocard. I always leave that alone.

Hey -

I have not set the divider to auto yet, but I did update my BIOS to the one that just got released in the end of July and Voila!, my computer is a butt load more stable! I havent played any games yet, but I let Prime95 run all night and it did so without a hitch...It has not run for 30 minutes without crashing before......

-Going from a mere 1.5 to 1.6 (A8V Del limit) when 1.7 is being recommended?

Another issue with this motherboard, is you must use the blue (or first) memory slots first. This info is in the manual though.

I dont understand that post...Are you suggesting I raise my AGP voltage? What does that do, anyway?
