Asus CUSL2-C and Direct X under Win2K

Well, I have an ASUS CUSL2-C and just tried installing Windows 2K with DirectX 8. I used the latest NVidia Detonator 2 drivers (631) on my GeForce2 GTS 32MB. My DirectX scores in WIndows 2K are so much lower than my scores in Windows ME. I have installed the lastest Intel 815 chipset drivers which helped a bit but I still get very sluggish scores with 3DMark and Unreal Tournament.

Open GL seemed fine (Quake 3 for instance).

Any ideas or similar experiences? I have read that alot of people have been getting their GeFOrce 2 GTS scores to be equivalent to their WIndows ME scores.

I just got my cusl2-c mobo. I cant even get quake3 to runn with out an error.
this is my first intel system
I am lost!!!!!

Perhaps you should not have installed DirectX 8. Microsoft have just released DirectX 8a which is supposed to resolve a number of problems in Win2K. Ideally, you should have installed the i815E inf drivers first immediately after you had installed Win2K, and before you had installed all the other drivers.

I've had no problems at all with my CUSL2-C
and i am an avid Quaker. Just gotta make sure you install the .inf's 1st and the ATA drivers if you wish or if you have problems.

Mine runs like a dream and Q3 looks great.

I heard that a lot of video drivers and games do not support direct x 8 yet. I would stick with directx 7.0 or 7.0a until you start seeing drivers and games come with direct x8
