Asus CUV4X (any user experences)

Hey all, looking for a good motherboard to overclock a P3 750, this one kind of stood out, anyone any experience's (good or bad) with this board?...........Thanks.....Stress

It's a good, stable board. Also very easy to set up.

I have that one and a CUSL-2, and I prefer the CUSL-2. Of course it's a bit more money, but imho it's a better board.

I am happy with my cuv4x. No complaints and its easy to set up. Plenty stable.

I have the P3V4X which is basically a slot-1 version of that board with an extra DIMM slot. No complaints here.

I've worked with the P3V4X which is pretty similar to the CUV4X (Slot1, 1 extra DIMM, no onboard ATA100) and it's worked out very well for me. A guy had a prebuilt system from Comcraq or whatever...and I used a P3V4X to standardize it, he had a 550 and 128MB of RAM, he had a TNT2 - it was a pretty decent for a big OEM - it had a POS custom case, mobo and PSU and the power power supply died...so rather than trying to replace or repair I got a standard case and PSU and put it all on a P3V4X, in the few days I was testing it it worked out quite well, and he's not given me any complaints. Except for the P3 this was all pretty generic crap (I coudln't figure out the brand name on the TNT2 and the RAM ..well lets not go there..) and it all seemed to work well together.

I've had one since it came out. Very stable, have a 500e@750MHz cracking RC5 24/7.

I jsut built one for a friend. Two obesrvations:

1. The P3V4X and CUV4X are both picky about RAM. Cheapo stuff will prolly cause you headaches (but you will OC, so you should have good RAM anyway).

2. They also picky about PS. Anything below 250 will likely cause stability problems with any type of high end vid card.

Never heard about generic ram problems with P3V4X/CUV4X. Where'd u hear that? My P3V4X does fine with my generic ram. Thou it does have micron chips.

I just built a computer for my roomate with the CU4VX. It is a nice stable board but nothing truly outstanding. Personally I would rather get a CUSL2 but then again it costs like $35 more than the CU4VX.

Via chipsets suck @ memory bandwidth. I took a 15-20% hit in performance going from a BX to a VIA in memory bandwidth. I would say stick with a BX board or an 815E board. You might also want to check out this board

I've built 5 systems on the P3V4X using different types of generic ram, never a problem.

there are some well known tweaks for ram bandwidth problems on via boards givin them very respectable scores. i had a 694 board and it was just fine tweaked.
