So i've used a netbook the last few years and want to replace it with this - how will this be better?
Well the for my personal usage it is intended as a travel device for reading email, web browsing and entertainment. While the screen is more or less the same size (10inch) this has better pixel density and the screen is more usable (the software is designed to optimize screen usage; with the netbook I have large borders when reading email or web-browsing. This device also has very easy to use zoom feature. Battery life is a little longer (I get around 6 hours with the netbook when watching movies). It is lighter (1.5 lbs vs 3.2 lbs) and thinner. Also boot up is faster since it has an ssd (well flash ram). Last but least I don't really like the keyboard on the netbook a bit too cramp for me and i have small fingers.

As for a larger notebook; I thought about getting something like the samsung 9 which keeps the weight around 3 lb and reasonably long battery life but it would be larger then this device. Please note that in this answer I'm describing how *I* intend to use the device. Obviously if I intended to do a lot of 'writing' then I would want a full keyboard (right now I do not intend to purchase the optional keyboard); but when I travel I normally read email but rarely send long replies.

Anyways its a relatively inexpensive experiment. I never really cared for the netbook I purchased; the keyboard was too cramp for effective usage and battery life was a bit iffy on longer trips (long lay over and similar).

Ok tablet gurus, serious question. What makes a tablet like this for $400/$500 + $150 for the keyboard dock, a better buy than say a $300 netbook or $650 laptop?
I'm in the market for one of the above, mostly for home use over wifi. Thinking it will make a good birthday present for me , but I want to get the most bang for my buck, well my woman's buck I should say.
