Asus g750jx-db71

Based on recommendations from Anandtech posters, I am aiming to buying this laptop soon. I have checked all over. Is there a better ASUS I should look at or quite looking? Any PC vendors besides the usual TigerDirect, e-bay, Amazon I can buy from?

What you would want to get depends on what you are using it for and what you would like to spend. For an Asus laptop with very good gaming performance, that is a pretty nice laptop at the price. My brother has that very model and my father has the last generation model. It seems like a good match of price/performance to me. They both are pretty happy with their computers.

There are other models of this laptop, but I think this one has the best price/performance. The G750JH-DB71 has a fair upgrade in the graphics department and 24GB of RAM, but whether it is worth paying $600 more is debatable, unless you have a specific need for it.

I'm assuming that you know what you are looking for to some degree. This laptop is quite large and has a tiny battery. If you need a laptop that will sit on a desk and play games at reasonable settings then it is a very nice laptop. You can carry it around, but it's not going to be a laptop you want to take with you everywhere.

Obviously i am somewhat biased having been the owner of a g73, g75, and now the g750, but the build quality wins me over every time. They are a bit more expensive then some but when i factor in price, performance, and build quality, it wins every time. I personally bought a 750jw and upgraded the ram to 16gb and replaced the hdd with a 500gb ssd, for a total of about $1500. The gtx 765m is perfect for my light gaming needs, and everything else is obviously blazing fast. If you need the extra ram, top end mobile vga, and multiple hdd's of the jx then go for it, otherwise you may find buying a lesser model and upgrading to be cheper.
