Asus H971 Plus has ram issue

So I just built an htpc with this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813132123 . I used this ram at first: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231546 then this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231428

My issue is that the board will not run the ram at 1600mhz, only 1333mhz. It has the latest 2704 bios. If I manually select 1600mhz it will not boot and the MemOK led lights up, I push the button, it does its calibration, says it booted ok and to go into bios and the save setting, but it is still only running at 1333mhz. If I select the XMP profile it only shows 1333mhz as the target (and loads that way when selected), while the SPD page in the bios shows the correct 1600mhz rating for both JEDEC and XMP. I've never dealt with this before. Any ideas?

Can you list your full system spec's(makes it easier to figure out what the issue is), 1333 puts less stress on the CPU. The memory controller is on the CPU, is there a reason why you want 1600? Your not gonna notice anything increble happening at 1600 is all........

Yes, that is where I first noticed the issue.

Not much more to add: Intel G3260 cpu, Kingston V300 SSD, and Seasonic SSR-360GP psu. It's no beast, but if I pay for something that is rated to work at the common 1600mhz I expect it to work.

Your CPU only supports 1333 memory.

Should have paid for a CPU that runs at 1600 RAM speed, if that's what you wanted.

Wow, I haven't seen anything support only 1333 in so long I didn't even look at that spec. Sorry everyone!

Yeah, I was pretty surprised too, to find out after buying some G3258 + H81 OC combos from Newegg, and dropping in some GSkill Sniper DDR3-1600 RAM, that the board would only drive it at 1333 or 1400 (bus overclock). And a 1400 RAM setting interfered with the CPU OC settings. So I was stuck with a RAM speed of 1333. Seemed rather primitive of Intel to limit a CPU designed for overclocking, to 1333 RAM speed, but what are you going to do, they're a monopoly.

Edit: I should note, that with a Z87 or Z97 board, you can OC the RAM speed.

Did you try manually put the timing: 9-9-9-24
Frequency: 1600Mhz in BIOS?
