Asus Ipanel and other motherboards

I recently bought an asus I panel .Does someone know if this device works with other motherboards than asus?

the USB function of the iPanel should theoretically work, since it has it's own separate connector for onboard USB (which is the same on ASUS boards as other boards). however, the diagnostics feature and display of the iPanel won't work because it is a proprietary plug for the motherboard.

yup... that would be one ugly USB port you got there then if thats all youre gonna use it for.

The pinout on the USB ports may not be the same as on other boards. You must be very carefull to confirm that before trying to use it. If they don't match then you could damage the MB. Of course, if it allows, you could reconfigure the wires in the plug to match the other MB's pinout and make it work. However, I tend to agree that it is one ugly way to get additional front USB ports. Better off with an "EasyUSB" unit.
