Can't really tell on the ps without testing it. If you want to use another identical IPIBL-LA with your original windows installation from hp, you'll need to remove the bios chip with a special tool and install it in the replacement board. If you do this, the original windows installation will work. The tool you need is called a PLCC puller; a few places have them for $10. If you have already upgraded to a newer oem windows version, then get the same chipset as your old board and your hardrive might load windows without a fresh install. Computer Geeks has a new Intel g33 board for $49.99. Or you can go with a newer "g" series board with onboard video, but many of those only come with 2 ram slots. For a different board, such as a g31 or g41 series (using ddr2), be sure to go to the "cpu support" section for the board on it's webpage and see if your old cpu is listed. Your replacement board will have to be a micro-atx; atx is too large to fit in your hp case.
