the only way i can get any sound through my speakers or headphones (both on their own cable), is to plug into either the blue or red and force a "line out" using the "sound effect" manager - which i could live with if i could save the settings: every time i restart they go away.
nothing i've tried has given me output from the green output. internal audio was connected, same issue with it disconnected. tried both 3.58 and 3.59 from the asus site.
am i missing something in the bios?
should i try these drivers direct from realtek or stick with asus? = http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/dlac97-2.aspx?lineid=5&famid=12&series=8&Software=True#8Windows

while i had removed the connectors going from the mobo's internal audio plugs to the front audio connectons on the antec sonata, i needed to reapply the default two jumpers...once i did this audio was okay, including the boot speech...knew it wasn't drivers since there was no speech at boot...so bios or board...
btw, i am running the above realteak drivers with no trouble. so far.
