Although I have never been able to get a video signal to the monitor to even Overclock it!
System:
AMD 64 socket 939 Winchester 3000+
ASUS K8V-Deluxe (K8T800 Pro chipset)
(1) 512mb Corsair CMX512-3200C2 DDR400 (soon to be two 512s whenever the money tree grows a bit)
Maxtor Diamondmax 10 SATA 200GB
Ultra X-Connect 500W PSU
Chaintech 6800GT
PROBLEM:
Turned it on for the first time, no video. Tried another monitor, nothing. Tried another old AGP 4x Riva TNT2 card (nothing). Hooked monitor up to laptop VGA out and monitor works great. Realized ATX 12v (secondary) power wasn't plugged in as tight as it could be. Fixed that, still had no effect on boot. couldn't hear any POST messages so I plugged headphones in and realized it was saying SYSTEM FAILURE DUE TO CPU OVERCLOCKING!
Hmm.. impossible! Unless.. memory timings are wrong and it's automatically overclocking the CPU (due to on-CPU memory controller, right?) Well this leads me to believe I either have the wrong memory or it is not installed properly. I have tried the stick in every slot to no avail. I always see people with pairs of 512s, well, is it not okay to only run one DDR stick? Just trying to rule stuff out..
I have tried everythingg I can possibly think of...! I need some help on this one.
Is my memory correct or are the timings incorrect? I am having a hard time believing that my entire mobo is bad, that just doesn't make sense considering there are so many people with this same problem. Why did I have to have this problem too.
Any suggestions?
eric
