Nice link BLaber, I really liked the link at the bottom off that forum with the Phenom 9950 @ 4,050MHz.

The board is now listed on Pricegrabber. There's only one place with a listing for it right now, though they claim to have it in stock for $202.

Hoping for a version with onboard wifi.

I will be using mushkin XP Ascent (1066) with my 9950 and this board. We'll see how that goes as comped to Corsair.

Let me know how those fit in the board.
Storys that the heat spreaders are clunky.

Newegg is wrong. I know it seems like a foreign concept to a lot of people but it does happen sometimes.

The M3A78-T, a motherboard with a similar name but using the 790GX chipset, does have onboard video. Perhaps someone at Newegg copied the listing to input details for this new motherboard thinking they would be similar.

I don't understand how some would believe a vendor's listing over the specifications on the website of the manufacturer. If you insist on continuing to believe Newegg over Asus, look at the pictures on Newegg's website. Notice how there are no video outputs on the board?

I can assure you that the 790FX northbridge does not include onboard video. If it did we would have known about it a year ago when the chipset first launched alongside SB600.

Getting back to the topic, Mwave now also has them in stock. I ordered one a couple of hours ago.

UPS dropped mine off at work today. Nice looking board. I probably won't be doing anything with it until tomorrow or Friday, though. Have an Athlon X2 5400+ black edition here along with a Sapphire Toxic 4850 and I'm very much looking forward to putting it all together.

Put the system together over the weekend. Bad news: Scythe's Ninja Plus Rev. B (SCNJ-1100P) does not fit on this motherboard.

The rectangular base makes the heat pipes stick out a little bit too far and they push up against the VRM heatsink next to the processor socket. It's maybe 3mm from fitting but I didn't want to bend the motherboard heatsink and definitely didn't want to bend the heatpipes on the Ninja.

If the base could be pointed so that the long side runs parallel to the board it would work, but then the AM2 retention bracket won't fit on the heatsink even if there were screw holes for that orientation - the heat pipes are too wide that way.

Right now I'm using the stock heatsink/fan from an X2 4450e on my 5400+ black edition, going to have to do a little research to find one that will fit and also be able to handle a high end Phenom for whenever I get around to buying one. Any suggestions?

Also, my board is emitting a high pitched whine so I may have to get it replaced. I've ruled out everything else in the system as the cause. Going to give it a day to see if having it running for a while will help (had it happen before, new part makes noise, warms up a little, noise goes away and never comes back) but I expect tomorrow I'll be calling mwave and asking for a replacement.

Anyone else gotten one yet?

It could be a BIOS thing, potentially fixed in a future update. You'd think something like that would be mentioned in many places if it was a widespread problem... dunno.

I'll have my replacement board tomorrow; I will check out the RAID settings once I get it set back up. I also ordered a Xigmatek HDT-S1283 heatsink which, judging from the pictures in that thread you've linked, should fit just fine. Speaking of which, in that thread it mentions that dual channel memory doesn't work at 1066 speeds and some people seem surprised, I thought this was a known limitation?

At any rate, I won't be getting a Phenom until the 45nm chips are available, though I'm interested to see how high the overclocks can go with these boards.

Tattare - No issues with RAID configuration here. I looked over all of the settings and it allows for something to be set as "single drive" while others can be defined in a RAID. If I had more than two hard drives I'd actually go and set it up myself but from what I can see all of the options to enable a single drive on one port and a RAID on two or more of the other ports are there.

BLaber - well I've got a black edition Athlon X2 5400+ running at 3.2GHz without any issues. I haven't tried pushing it any further yet, though, as my power supply seems to be the cause of the high pitched whine I previously mentioned and I think I need to get that replaced at this point. Sigh.

hate to bump an elderly thread, but I just got this board, and I was getting terrible high pitched noise that was quite loud. I narrowed down to the sound emanating somewhere close to the south bridge (after removing my graphics card). Some say it is coil whine or just the sound of the current flowing through some of the traces. Whatever it was, it was very annoying. Anyways, the problem seemed to have gone away using a power strip with power conditioning, such as Monster Power strips. Normally, I do not care to endorse any sort of products like this, but after using normal surge strips and plugging straight into the wall with the coil whine still present, this solution seems to work so far. I don't understand why this would work, but it does and my system is finally quiet (< 20dB/1m)

And, go figure, it was just a coincidence for the next 5 reboots. Now the damn high pitch noise is back
