Asus Mx pure card or Herc Prophet MX?

Have a cel 450a which is soon to be a 633 possibly running at 950 and want a new vid card to replace my v3 2000, looking at either the asus pure for 145 plus shipping (really like the soldier of fortune inclusion) or the herc prophet

are either of these cards any better? they are roughly the same money, only thing is the asus comes with sof and I can get the herc at a best buy, any advice greatly appreciated thanks

Bought the asus myself coz sof came with it, so saved a bit there. Cant go wrong with either i spoze but i can only get 205/212 at the o'clock with asus.Any higher is unstable.But it works super and i have no complaints thus far

Another vote for the Asus it has some nice support on the board itself, don't know much about the herc. Friend of mine is having all kinds of problems with a CardEXpert MX card today I am going to give him my Asus V7100 so he can compare results.

any other opinions here? I dont plan on overclocking the card I just want something stable and faster than my v3 2000, and I can just buy sof for 30 bucks this weekend..any other opinions are appreciated thanks

I have the Hercules 3D Prophet II MX, and it's an awsome card. I added a 486 fan to the heatsink, and the card is overclocked to 215 core, 220 RAM, and is stable Quake III never crashes). Also, my card runs on a 83 Mhz FSB, which helps deliver excellent performance. Without a fan, the heatsink was quite warm to the touch. With a fan, the heatsink isn't even warm. I couldn't care less for the software myself, with cable modem access there are a lot of games out there anyways. Just remember that Hercules has faster RAM on their cards (5.5 ns). The Asus has 6ns (the reference for MX based cards). You can't go wrong with either card. I just think that Asus cards (and other Asus products) are sometimes overrated. Hope this helps.

Yeah after working with alot of asus stuff I am not their biggest fan either since it has caused alot of problems, but the card is a good deal just because it comes with Soldier of fortune, that alone makes it worth it to me

I dont know I think the asus pure with sof will be the choice if I can find it for 20 less than the herc, that will not only save me money on the card but also in the 50 I would have to spend on sof

Hey, boz, the herc card comes out with the mem o/c as standard[ here in australia], i was going to buy this card, but as the asus already had a game which i wanted to buy i chose it[ $299 herc, $330 asus, $90 to buy sof on it's own], so as u can see i saved $60 by buying card n' game together, that was main reason for getting asus.[money in aus$]. AS u can see things ar not cheap here as we have a pissweak dollar.Any wayz, my system is k6/2 500, 128 pc100, mx asus, 2x quantam hdd, no speed demon for sure but alway's stable, play's anything i throw at it, happy till next upgrade[this week!!!!]

Can't agree with that Asus quality statement, I have built many a system with Asus motherboards and most are rock solid and loaded with the latest and greatest regarding the release date of course. I would tend to think if you can make a solid motherboard then the rest would be a piece of cake.....it's the old if you build a solid foundation the house isn't going anywhere......just keep those 140-150 mph winds away from here <please>

hotwire how many systems are you talking about, 10 15? if your a retailler maybe somewhere in the hundreds?

I am talking about over 1,000 boards in various machines, and yes we have had a good deal of &quot;issues&quot; with them over intel boards, which is why we only use the asus when we have to. Hey they could have improved, but neither myself or the other techs at nasa are too thrilled with the asus boards we have to work with
