Asus N53Jf or Asus N61Jv

hi guyz
i want to buy a new laptop and am having trouble deciding between the 2 laptops in the subject.
The first is supposed to be a refresh of the second, but isn't available yet. the second is 6 months old but is available now and got anandtech's editors choice.

thoughts?

i was taking a look at the n53jf and the n43jf, and based on design alone, the n53/n43 seem to have a more aesthetically pleasing and ergonomic look. I'm not sure how concerned you are about the gt 325 vs the 425, but it might be worth the wait to see how they match up. either way, i don't think you can go wrong.

one of the main reasons i've been waiting for the n53 is the 425gt. do you have any idea when n53 will be available? i can't wait too much longer.

i really want the N53Jf, i've been holding off buying a laptop for a long long time now, and this one has all the specs i'm looking for with the Full HD and i5-540 options. the bang and olufsen audio is nice as well.

i'm dying for a release date, i'm pretty sure amazon will be one of the first ones to have these in stock (plus they always have bonuses/package deals with asus).. if anyone has ANY info, pls reply

according to this (was included in an ebay store page about the the n53jf) the ETA is tomorrow (Oct. 20th), but i doubt it, since only 1 other store has it on sale (NCIX), but none in stock and no ETA. best i could get from sending emails to cust. support of various places is "mid to end of Oct.".

would be great if anyone can find more info on ETA.

thanks! yeah, i've heard end of october too, but no firm dates, nothing like that link you posted at least.

the one bad thing about dealing with ASUS though is that it can be a bit of a pain to get the system with the exact specs you want - i.e. i want the Full HD and i5-540m chip, but most places just get a big shipment of whatever (usually the lowest specs/cheapest) and sell from there with little to no possibility for upgrading.

i believe this model even has blu-ray capability which is nice but useless for me. with my luck i'll probably end up only finding the lowest spec notebooks but with blu-ray as the "bonus", lol.

yesterday i saw mentioned on some forum somewhere (should have kept a link) that availability of N53Jf will begin in Nov (it was either 8th or 18th).
I'm not sure i can wait till then, so does anyone have any info re. N61Jv-x4 (the 14" version)? specs are identical to the 16", images on amazon even show numpad on keyboard. however, i can't find any reviews anywhere. I'd prefer 14" to 16" for weight and batt-life reasons, but want to make sure this laptop is as good as the 14" versions is supposed to be.

Hey guys was reading this topic, I actually just put in a pre order for the n53jf Amazon.com has a great deal on this one, one of the only ones with a full hd screen too. The pre order said I would be receiving my computer from Dec 01 2010 to Dec 08 2010. I got two day shipping on it too, so amazon should have it around that time-frame if that helps. This particular model has a blu ray drive and full hd all for $50 more than the standard def version.

The 14 is in stock at Amazon, but screen resolution is 1366x768.
The 14 does not have the num pad like the 53.

Personally I wouldn't want the 53 only because its thickness goes up to 1.6, and weight up to 6.4lbs, which in my opinion is way too thick and heavy. If you aren't using it on your lap or carrying around too much, then I would consider it.
