Newegg has the Retail Board available for $229 with free shipping.

I know a lot of ppl have been talking and waiting on this board, so thought I would give everyone a heads up.

I already ordered mine, so we will see how this board does with the (2X512) sticks of PC3200LLPT that are sitting here.

EDIT Newegg P4G8X Linky

I ordered mine just before they finished updating the status, around 5:00PM ET. Anybody earlier than me?

I got my confirmation email at 4:04PM Central, so about the same as you. I had just checked it about 10-15 minutes earlier and it said ETA 2/6. Newegg trying to fool us, me thinks.

I even paid the 3.99 for express order processing.

To Endgame:

What will the "P4SDX" have??

To all others:

I was wondering what the benefits to this board was? I know Duel Channel is one but can you run this board on one 512 Stick? And would it be stable? What are the performance benefits of duel channel?
Also the specs state: "RAM: DUAL CHANNEL 4x 184-pin DIMM Sockets (PC2100) ECC/non ECC DDR SDRAM Memory, 4GB Max" Does this mean that the board will only support up to PC2100 memory?

Thanks

Mark

Well basically the dual-channel doubles the memory bandwidth, but only if you have two or four DIMMs on the mobo. If you just put in one stick you can only run on one channel. That basically ruins the point of the chipset on the mobo. If you don't want to buy another stick, I'd go with a P4PE board. But one stick should run just fine if you wanted to for some reason, or if it's just till you buy another. As for the memory speed, it is spec'ed for PC2100, because the bandwidth is supposed to max out what a P4 with a 533 FSB can handle. It seems from testing that they did here at AT that you can overclock and still gain a little bit of a gain. But in my opinion it's not enough to throw out the stick of PC2100 I already have. It's really up to you.

I doubt todays P4's are going to take a 200 mhz FSB, so I'm assuming you're thinking this will support next gen p4's. Does this make this an early canterwood experience you think? A bit of the 845g kind of thing? This is compounded by the fact that you're giving up IDE raid and manual IRQ control, so unless you think this will stretch into the next processor family I'd think the savings of $20 or so to not have mattered much. This about what you're thinking?

thanks.

Argh, I'm always late to the game. Anyone know another reputable retailer that has them in stock? I don't want to wait another 3 weeks. tia

The P4SDX will be Asus's SiS655 board with the "BO" stepping. Asus is holding back on the 655's after the P4S8X debacle I'm told and making sure they get it right! Listed as having all the amenities as the P4S8X. The current (early) SiS655's have the "AO" stepping which is reportedly inferior to the "BO" stepping as far as overclocking.
