If you plan on overclocking, even a bit, go with the P4P800 for sure.

You should be able to use any DDR ram from pc2100 and up.

Thanks

both of them are stable... really... but i suggest getting an asus because you get better feature bundle with it especially in the BIOS set up...intel is just so conservative...believe me, later on you'll appreciate and dig this additional features asus have that intel doesn't have...

yes it matters, and it depends on what processor you'll be using and if the mobo supports the ram type...if you use P4 HT, then use PC3200...

you cant go wrong with either really.. although for flat out stability, i'd say the PERL might be better, but i realistically don't think it's an issue.

Hey questions on the Asus. I dont overclock either. Are the settings in the bios easy to use for newbies not overclocking?

Yeah, just read up on a few thing in the Motherboard forums and do a search for p4p800.

Couldn't be easier, for an easy overclock you can just choose to overclock by a certain percentage.

yep, you can leave everything default in the BIOS and the system should work just fine!

it's already a good choice if your on a budget... getting a very good memory is not really a needed since your not into OC... i'm just using generic PC2700 over my intel D865GBF, pretty stable and no problem so far running at default settings... just avoid messing with the default timings of value RAMs because they are not that good performance wise compared to more expensive ones...

865 and 875 chipset families have inteligent memory controller feature so i guess there's no problem running at default(as detected) speeds/timings...
