Asus P4S800-E Deluxe

Just a quick question from a new member. I'm planning my first build, and have been considering the Asus board noted in the topic title. Anand's review seemed quite good, and the board appears to be a good value relative to the included features. Are there any users with opinions to share? Mostly I'm concerned about ease of setup, general quality of the hardware and documentation (especially since it will be my first build), stability--the usual stuff.

You can't go wrong with the board. Stable, fast, just a great mobo from Asus.

i say POS, apparently its not compat with antec true power 430's i built this yesterday and i got no post/no video, im rma'ing it for an abit ai7

You either got a bad board or you have NO idea what you're doing. It's impossible for a board to be incompatible with a power supply outside of a difference in standard.

Word (I agree with you completely). But at any rate... i haven't used a Sis chipset.. i personally would stick with an Intel Chipset for intel (maybe ATI when it gets better), and i would use either a VIA or an Nvidia chipset for AMD.

What? I dont undersand what your asking.

I said the chipset i recommend for Intel and AMD. I just said i haven't had much experience wiht Sis (Yes i have owned one before) and i prefer VIA Intel Nvidia and (maybe ATI).

Several years ago i would never have considered a motherboard with an SiS chipset but those who have owned one of the newer generation Asus boards have had nothing but praise.

The performance and stability of the current wave of SiS products has been nothing short of a quality and performance resurection. The P4S800D-E is without doubt the best performing P4 entry at a price that seems hard to beleive. Compared to the Intel 865 and 875 chipsets, the stability is comparable and offers better performance.

I have two of these boards running 24-7 on a web server and can take any level of beating one can choose to dish out on them.

Highly recommended for anyone looking to pick-up an non intel chipset P4 board
