Here's the setup:
P4 3.2G Northwood,
ASUS P4S800D-Deluxe,
Kingston 512MBx2,
Maxtor 160G HD,
SB Live 5.1,
WinXP SP1.
Wired connection to a Dlink 624 router.
The problem I'm having involves several syndromes:
1. After XP boots up, it takes about 5-10 seconds for the onboard Marvell Yukon Giganet to pick up the connection to the router, which is annoying when I'm impatient but still tolerable.
2. If I send the machine to standby, then wake it up, it takes anywhere between 0-60 seconds for the network connection to get recognized and picked up again. Sometimes, it does not get restored at all.
3. In the above scenario, if I try to run the Asus Virtual Cable Tester, it shows "2m" for half of the wires. The weird thing is, if I keep running the Tester for a few times, the connection eventually gets picked up.
I have checked Asus web site. The BIOS and Marvell driver seem to have the same versions as I have installed. But when I run Windows Update, it shows there is an update for the Marvell Giganet, but then when I try to install it, it always fails without any specific error message.
Any hint? Thanks a lot.
