Asus P4T questions

I'm looking to upgrade and a friend has a P4T and I thought about getting it (I'm coming from a P3V4X with p3 600@841). I'm going to put the 1.6A on it and I'd like to see 2.2-2.4Ghz out of it. Would this be possible with this board with stock HSF? Does anyone see any problems with this board? I know I need to verify it has the ICS chips, but is there anything else I need to look out for?

If you really want the Rdram MB, I would wait @ about another 2 weeks. Gigabyte 8IHXP with 1066 rambus support should be out. Then compare that to the Asus MB.

I would consider the DDR boards also... Asus P4S533, Abit IT7 (both OC very well), and the Gigabyte 8IEXP(out next week I believe).

I'm in the same situation...

Good question. I was told it was a P4T, though it could be an E. I couldn't find any info on Asus' site on a P4T (no E), so I assumed my friend meant E. I'll make sure, but I think I've already decided to go with a newer board as looper mentioned. Thanks for the heads up.

So as a result of loopers post. Which would be the boards to go for- the DDR boards or the RDRAM board for P4 for best bang for the buck.

Secondly if I wanted to go p4 2.0a and do not overclock which way would be best bang for the buck?

PC1066 is huge price at moment and not in australia. Would the new boards work ok with RD RAM pc800-Are the boards backwards compatable.

You see I am looking at building a rig with buying P4 2.0g soon. So should I build with current stock in Aust or wait about a month in Australia for the new boards. However I don't want to pay a ridiculous price for the boards or ram either.

Rusman...

If you go with the Abit IT7, it is a legacy free board,ie, no ps2 keyboard or mouse, no serial or parallel ports(printer)...will need adapter cables for those peripherals...or buy new usb KB and mouse...
