It's sexy black, so it will obviously be faster & better for OCing

Evidence of this:
My recent history with black & non-black PCB.

P5B Deluxe - black & sexy & OCs like a mofo
A8N32-SLI Deluxe - black & sexy & OCs like a mofo
Neo2 Platinum - black & okayish looking & OCed like a mofo
A8R-MVP - green & butt-ugly & was crap for OCing

Okay now seriously though, i suspect it will be very comparable to the P5B-E upcoming 1.02 revision in OCing ability.

IOW, excellent.

Hmm, i just looked thru that, & the bios is actually identical to my P5B Deluxe.

So basically, the main difference between this P5B-E Plus & the P5B Deluxe:
Heatsinks vs. heatpipes.
4-phase power vs. 8-phase
Single PCI-e 16x vs. two PCI-e slots (16x + 4x)

I have just been reading through the specication sheet of this board and I see that it has a 2 x 4 pin EATX 12 v power connector, does that mean a new PSU or will just the 1 x 4 pin work ? thanks.

Mmm. This had me thinking about that, but the P5B Deluxe specsheet quotes 2x 4pin as well. However on the exploded view I only see one ??

P5B Deluxe

Plus has same/similar layout

E-Plus

I have not been able to check out the manual on the P5B-e plus as it is not on the Asus website, so downloaded the deluxe as thespec sheet reads 2 x 4 pin the same as you pointed out, it says to remove the cap off the 8 pin connection it also mentions just using 4 pin but it is not clear , and if you look at the image of the plus version you will see a black cap over 4 of the pins same as the deluxe, any idea's thanks.

Found this via Froogle. Due 3/11

That's a very similar price to the present P5B-E and you'll get 2.45v memory and solid caps.

I'm visiting the US next month so probably gonna get the non-plus or P5B deluxe as the plus is said not to be for US consumption.

Didn't realise, but my Seasonic S12 500 has an 8 pin power connector on board. The 4 to 8 pin converters are available on Ebay for @ £4.

It's very hard to understand why ASUS didn't leave the 2nd PEG at full X16 length. There is nothing in the way, anyway.

Does anyone know if the 1.02g is at retail stores like Newegg yet? Newegg's pictures of the P5B-E Deluxe look like it's black too. I'd rather have the 1.02g 2nd pci-e.

I am about to buy the parts for my first build. I am getting the P5B-E, but if budget allows I am considering upgrading to the Deluxe. I understand the differences/advantages between 4 phase and 8 phase (and obviously understand that 2 PCI-e slot are more than one ) but I am uncertain about the advantages of the heatpipes versus the heatsinks. The heatpipes "seem" cooler (no pun intended! I actually meant cooler as in "better cooling") but is this true? Are they better at cooling? What other advantages/disadvantages does the use of heatpipes have?

In the '965 roundup' the lack of heatpipes wasn't an issue on the 'E' even when overclocked. The difference in price 'E' to DLX is @$30. Hopefully they'll be no price gouging as the 1.02 ver should take over seemlessly from 1.01.

when is the plus-board gonna be reviewed on Anand
I'm gonna buy a new mobo within 2 weeks, but I haven't found any real reviews of this board. If I can't find one by the end of the month, I'll go for the regular P5B-E, which is solid and a bit cheaper...

Don't forget max vDIMM of 2.45v, a serial port, and dual LAN on the deluxe.
