Well I've been able to get it this high and I should probably be satisfied with that.
I had read though that people were getting 3.2ghz out of these in some instances and I was hoping to push it a little more.
Right now I'm using 387*7 for 2708mhz, ram is patriot brand (http://shop1.outpost.com/%7B+QSVtnUkaOnbJ-hZw+Orbw**.node3%7D/product/5200607;jsessionid=+QSVtnUkaOnbJ-hZw+Orbw**.node3?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG) supposedly capable of 400mhz at 5-5-5-12 2.1v. Unfortunately it won't post at that speed.
I'm wondering in this instance if it's the memory or the processor itself that's the limiting factor here. I can get it up to 389*7 but start having glitches. 387*7 is completely stable.
i am using the stock cooler, so perhaps that is the first thing i should swap out. with stock at idle it's running 45c, load at 60c. i read that the threshold for this cpu/stepping was 75c so it seems in tolerances.
