just upgraded my mb/ram/cpu...and now i keep getting a bod saying something like irql is not equal or greater or something...i googled this and read that it could be caused from software running so i disabled all software and still same thing. ive read that a reformat useally does not fix it. i never had this problem before the upgrade so im thinking its the mb, should i exchange it? i upgraded to the newest bios still same thing.

dude thats not the motherobard... theat means u have to reinstall windows... and if u dont want to do a reformat do this:

boot from windows xp disk, select start a new installation... after it detects the partitions that u have, select the 1 u need fixed... then select the "repair current windows installation"... or smthn like that... and then windpws will do a full reinstall but will keep the programs that u have installed.... this way u dont loose ur programs... Any1 please correct any steps ... but i think this is the right way to not loose ur programs... and get a mobo/cpu upgrade to work...

If u replace a mobo and cpu windows might be corrupted and needs the above steps to reinstall it.... also a reformat will of course do though.

i used a program called sysprep, which basicly strips out all the drivers and settings...its mainly used for creating an image of a hd and pushing it out to a bunch of computers with diff hardware.

Sounds to me like it did not work.

Going from a clean software image, no drivers loaded but created on a P965, to the P35 created several issues for us. I highly recommend doing a format and clean OS install, Windows HAL will get confused/messed up going to this chipset from another one regardless of whether you stripped the drivers or not.

You cannot blame the board here, unless you come from a new installation. However, I just replaced an Nvidia 680i with a P5K deluxe, XM MCE 2005, and didn't have to format.

Sound like memory issue offhand. Try one stick at a time and vary slots. Memory funk will corrupt OS and the weird messages ensue.

i thought it was a mem issue right alway so first thing i did was put in my old corsair, same thing. then i tried 1 stick at a time, still crashes. now maybe i just got lucky and the board doesnt like either brand, i dont know. ive had boards that dont like ram, and useally it would crash all the time. this time it crashes randomly, i can even play q4 and it wont crash. just when it feels like it.

ill try to format it later but i have a funny feeling that is not going to help. i hope gary is right. too damn busy to have to remove this again.
