I do not know the difference in the two. I did some reading around the web and most folks getting decent clocks were using the 0304 bios, so I decided to go ahead and updateee. The 0307 bios is buggy according to some things I have read, so I will wait for a better update before I change.

As for where to get the 0304 bios, I posted a link in one of my earlier posts in this thread to the XSForums thread with a bios link imbedded.

There are no release notes with Eva2000's Link, and on ASUS website they had 0202 so I just stayed at 0123, running at 3.24 had her up to 3.6 just to see what she would do then I just want to get my RAM running in specs, DDR2 800 running ~812.

Frys has the P5K? did they have the P5K-E?

nope , only had the deluxe, and its was coslty 259.

far cheaper at some of the online stores, but I wanted something to do over the holidays lol

im using the 311 bios by the way

http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=144199&page=12

Thanks man!

259$ is a bit more than I was hoping. Everytime I walk into the Frys here (Vegas) I keep thinking how Newegg is cheaper, tax-free and how their Cali warehouse is only 200 miles away.

I'm gonna get my hands on this board soon. I can't wait for the IP35-Pro or the P5K-E anymore.

The only difference I can see between the E and the deluxe is that the deluxe has dual ethernet and the E has a single ethernet port.

Has anyone seen the P5k-E for sale and if so what was the price?

Are there any differences between the two that I missed.

edit/

Just saw another one, the deluxe includes image editing software. I believe that is for putting your picture in the boot up screen.

look at the mosfets.

all else, beyons what you stated....is equal to the deluxe. if price is between vanilla and deluxe. the p5k-e will be a great buy.

oh yeah....abit IP35-Pro is rumored to be the equivalent of the asus deluxe, but priced like the vanilla.

Just as a warning to other prospective buyers w/8800GTX video cards, the lower orientation may cause a problem.

I am selling my brand new P5K Deluxe because the first PCI-E x16 slot is too low on the board for my 8800GTX. When I tried to install the video card, the card bumped into the drive cage of my Lian-Li PC60 case. I can't move the HDDs around due to other things in the case.

Word to the wise if you have one of those LONG 8800GTX cards, be sure it'll fit.

To quote Anandtech's review: "You will not have to struggle with these P35 boards as many of you did with early P965."

With all due respect I'll take Anandtech's word for it... they are usually right.

" bought the board from eXtremePCgear.com since they had the best pricing and solid RR" This is who I purchased from also, did a search for them and seemed good. First time buying from them, no problems and product shipped quick.

The rest of my stuff should be delieved today so I will begin the build tonight.

1ManArmY - I have the Zalman 9700 LED, OMG this thing is huge. biggest heatsink I will have installed. Not sure if Ill get to the point of installing it tonight, however everything should be up and running by Friday.

I will post more detail on setup/config.

Anyone know were I can post pictures online so I can link them here?

This is a question I've been working on for a bit myself. The reviews that're out there make this board (or something similar) look really attractive, but one thing concerns me. The upcoming build is going to be my first one, so I'm a bit nervous about the whole thing. I like the sounds of these boards, but would having such an immature board/BIOS/whatever be a plus or a minus for a situation like mine? Anyone out there that's already got one of these having any major problems?

Or buy a different case.

I'm enjoying the P5K Deluxe, unlike the days and weeks spent w/ the DS3 rev. 1.0.

Since you mention the DS3, maybe you could help me out. I'm wondering how the NB heat compares to that of the DS3. On my DS3, even at 9x333 I could only touch the NB for a few seconds w/o burning. Does it seem like these new heat pipe coolers on the P5K boards work well?

Also, I know this is a 'deluxe' thread but I just ordered the 'vanilla' plain P5K from ZZF and wonder how its heat pipe will compare. Any feedback appreciated.

My DS3 NB was very hot to the touch running 375, I installed a Panaflow 80mm L1 fan to blow across RAM and NB and it was still hot. I replaced the stock NB with a Thermalright HR5 using a Panaflow 80mm mounted to the bottom and had absolutely no problems with the temps after that.

The P5K Deluxe NB at 400 is warm, but not so bad that you can not touch it and hold your finger against it. I mounted a Panaflow 80mm fan to blow across my RAM and NB and took it up to 450. The fan blowing across the NB keeps things relatively cool to the touch. I lowered the multi on my 6420 and pushed the Bus up to 500, but got quickly bored with Orthos. I backed down to 3450 and lowered my Vcore for daily driving and have absolutely no problems with heat.

I can not say enough good things about this board and chipset. As for how the heatpipe on the vanilla works, mount a fan blowing across it and don't sweat it.

The NB on my P5K deluxe is not even warm to the touch @ 400mhz.

The motherboard temperature under the Asus probe reads @ 34c @ this speed.

I also have a fan blowing over towards the NB but it didn't make much difference.

You can also grab 0311 official bios.. i've linked to them at http://i4memory.com/showthread.php?t=4020

but some folks having issues with 0311 bios flash with asus windows update... or it could be a SATA raid issue as 0311 improves ACHI feature. I updated my P5K Deluxe using bios ez flash 2 to 0311 with no probs.. testing right now
