The new bios is actually 1001. Not sure what 0101 was, but right now I am running bios version 1001 dated 03/13.

Okay, I have successfully flashed to BIOS 1001.

Is there anything specific that you have noticed that I should look out for?
You said there was a lot of positive feedback so far.

???

Cheex, there's been positive feedback on the Asus forums, most people claiming they're finally stable with this bios...

I am currently running unlinked 1440FSB and 800Mhz on the ram. Been that way for 3 days now, but I have not had a chance to stress the system.

This is at 1.248 on the vcore too, according to CPUID....

Hopefully I'll get a chance to test these settings tonight.

UPDATE:

Still at 2.8GHz (400x7), haven't gone higher yet.

I want to see if I still get the freezing like before.
24 hours since bios flash and reboot...no problem yet (hopefully never).

I'm at 3.24Ghz on my Q6600 and going strong for over a week. RAM at 890.

Looks like this board was worth it after all, just needed some patience and a couple BIOS massages.

Hi guys! Newcomer and new owner of the P5N-T deluxe here. I had some problems with it (I think) and I thought you might be able to help me.
You can already see my configuration in the signature so I'll try not to get to much into it. So here's what happens:
1. Like you, I've experimented with bsoding a lot these past few days;
2. Everytime I try to play a game (Frontlines, AoE3, C&C 3 etc) I get the infamous crash followd by the even more infamous ".... has encountered a problem and needs to close" message;
3. unrar-ing archives gives me almost everytime "CRC failed" (this I got over after setting RAR to keep broken files, but, still, it didn't happen before) and so on. If I remeber what else, I'll let you know.
Now, what I think you should know is that: everything in my configuration other then the mobo and the case is old (which translates: proven to work just fine). It's only after I installed the mobo that I started having problems. Previously I had a Asus P5N-D2.
Sometimes, this afternoon I should also be getting my new RAM modules (TWINx2 dominator modules 2GB @1066 Mhz) so things should improve overall. I don't know if that's relevant but I thought I'd let you know.
I have read earlier in this thread that almost all of you moved to a newer BIOS version (903 or 1001). Is this it? The fix?
Anyway, any help would be appreciated since I've been through hell and back over this mobo.
Thanks in advance.

Oh yeah, I remebered: cannot get my Symantec Antivirus Corporate to update it's virus signature (it gets the updates online, but when it reaches 99% when trying to update it lets me know that I have a full disk and maybe should try again). After I try again, the message changes to something like: failed to update virus signature bla, bla, bla.... Again, this was a software that worked fine before.
And, oh yeah, one more thing, the 250GB HDD is also new: two partitions (20GB/230GB), the smaller one containing the OS.
OK, thanks.

P.S. Sorry for the poor English. It's not my native language.

I had to reboot after installing SP1 so...since then...
58 hours since SP1 install and reboot...no problem yet (hopefully never).

Note:
I'm now not sure if the fix was with the new 1001 bios or if it was SP1...lol. I'm thinking its the bios anyway because things were okay before SP1.
I'll probably try to go a little higher in a few days.

I'll update as it happens.

@ razvanescu:

The first thing I think you should do is to update the the 1001 bios.
It has been stable for several of us.

Hi again!
I have updated the BIOS to 1001 and I have to say it works better. There are still a few problems such as the unraring of archives. It's still not fixed. Maybe a Windows reinstall should fix that too?
Thx

That sounds like a Windows issue. Before doing a fresh install, try reinstalling the program first.

Hi Guys,

also having the same problems with freezes under VISTAx32/x64.

I got the P5N-T now for 2 Months under testing with 6 different Mobos.
3 were DOA but i discovered no problems till the
last 3 weeks. I'm still
in heavy contact with Pegatron (Asus) and we're trying to fix some
issues by different bios changes/updates but now with the (for me
latest) Bios 0103 i can't run my stress programs for more than 2 hours.

After that, black screen and no responding under Vista. Sometimes
i get a bluescreen with the error message that the display driver
was restarted cause of problems with a nvxxxx.dll

Seems like there are problems between the NVIDIA Chipset and NVIDIA
GPUs. I only got bluescreens when using Geforce Cards. Doesnt matter
if SLI is turned on/off or if i use twin/triple SLI. Tested 2way/3way SLI with
8800GTS (only2 way) / 8800GTX & 9800GTX.

I'm going after the 4GB Issue, cause i always used 4GB-8GB Rams (SS/DS).

I dont think its a CPU problem, cause they all ran smooth till today
(Tested with all C2D (45nm, 65nm), Q2Q (45nm/65nm), and Extremes up
to QX9775.

Never had such problems. Nearly. The P5N32-SLI was also a struggle
at the beginning....

I keep you updated, if interested.

cheers

Hi,

Do not install the Vista MediaShield drivers, try running the system with the Microsoft SP1 drivers only and see what happens.

Hi there,

cause i'm integrating SP1 for the last 3 months now, i'm pretty sure its not a driver issue.

@ Gary: I didn't install the Media Shield drivers @ all. Only sometimes when i wanted to check
some tested RAID configurations (0/1/10). Normally i don't give a damn about the media
shield software, cause i'm not a fan of it. Intel has a much better RAID software delivered
with its chipsets. Anyway, i dind't use the MS software the last 2 weeks.

@ schiziod77: I'll try again regarding your suggestion to use the channel bios.
Had 4 Boards stressed overnight with less than 4GB RAM and 2 of them finally passed the test. Still having problems when
a 8800GTS is attached (G80/G92) tough.....still waiting for a mail of Pegatron...guess they're still sleeping in taiwan ;-)

Curious really, normally Pegatron only sends me a modified bios depending on the last channel bios available...

I'll keep you updated, thanks guys!!

Hi all

I am having problem with this board for past few days. I am using latest BIOS but there is NO WAY i can boot (actaully it boots but 20sec after it freezes or BSOD) this board in windows at 1333Mhz. AT 1200Mhz windows loads but when i try to run 3dmark everything hangs. I am using patriot DDR800 memory and unlinked settings. CPU at 2Ghz (333x 6). I don't have any BOSDs at default but i want to squeeze more out of my E6700. I went from 1.2 to 1.9V NB and still it hanged every time.

I didn't find any guide about memory timing, but i doubt i have a memory issue since everything works on 1033 FSB just fine with memory at 800Mhz.

I ran out of options here, this board plain sux. Anyone had same problems?

I hate to say it but this board is a HUGE hit or miss. Mine was a partial, I ended up getting an EVGA 780i board and it's better but not by much. But for your case the EVGA or XFX 780i board would be your best bet.

Some things in life aren't worth the hassle and motherboards are the worst.

I've been running at 8x525 on my Xeon E3110 for the past few weeks without issues.

I am running QX9650 @ 4GHZ air cooled,2MB RAM no problems. Bios is 1001 and XP professional sp2. Prime stable for 5+ hours and counting. But I am running it outside the case. BTW, I did not install mediashield, but am running Raptors in raid 0 using the nvidia drivers that I slip streamed into my xp.

Hi there,

all my systems are build plain on a rack, so i got no case either. I just unpacked 2 additional P5N-T mobos yesterday and stressed
them overnight.....no cure. 2 mobos freezed after 5 hours of stressing and 4 mobos crashed on a bluescreen, all tested under VISTAx32/x64 SP1.

I can't specifiy the origin of all the failures. Got 2 mobos running on channel bios 1001 and 4 running under customized (by Asus) Bios 0102 & 0103.

I ran tests beginnig of february with no issues @ all....but today?!? I looked up the stressing softwares logs and @ that time i used Bios 0903 & 0101. Should
give them a try maybe....the earlier tests ran smooth with fully loaded systems, with configs that are e.g.:
-VISTAx32_6x1TB-HDD_2xODD_FDD_2xESATA-HDD_2x8800GTX_FW-HDD_USB-HDD_Q6600_8GB
-VISTAx32_Q9650_8GB_3x9800GTX-SLI_4x1TB-RAID10
-VISTAx64_QX9775_8GB_2x8800GTS_RAID5
-XPSP2_E8500_4GB_2x9600GT-SLI_RAID0

Still on trail & error for today i guess ;(
Damn, also had these problems on the P5N32-SLI....these mobos are to alike i guess...just build to get me a headache ^^

Will keep you updated....

NOW ITS OFFICIAL ^^

NVIDIA told me that the bug with freezes @ video playback is now officially confirmed.
NVIDIA Usa is working on a solution for about 5 days now......i'm really pissed ;-(

I reported this bug 2 months ago but they didn't wanna hear about it.....both
NVIDIA USA and TAIWAN couldn't reproduce this failure. Now that forums
are filling up with posts from "Retail" buyers experiencing the same failure i called
my NVIDIA contact person again and now he's telling me they are working on that bug
and he's regrets not listening 2 me in the past ^^

Hope the bugfixe comes very fast now, cause the PM is really suggesting not
buying this board...crap

Keep the feedback coming guys!!

how is everyone doing with this board THAT IS using the 1001 bios? i bought one of these mobos new and unused for CHEAP. if everyone is having perfect results with the 1001 bios, i will pop it open and hook it up. if there are still issues, i will probably just throw it on ebay rather than give myself a headache. thanks guys!
