ASUS p6t deluxe V2 or V1

So, what is the difference between these boards, does anyone know? I'm looking to buy parts for my build now after lots of research and while comparing prices for this board I noticed there is a V2 now.. I'm having a hard enough time deciding on everything else now this happens

I don't know, but if there is a second revision get that one as it would be the most up to date and probably fixed whatever was borked on revision 1.

The second revision is a "cheaper" model, and appears to have the same layout minus the SAS ports. The V1 is list $299.99, the V2 at $249.99. I wish it had been available when I bought mine, I doubt that I'd invest in SAS drives at this point so the extra $$ was a waste. Aside from that, mine has been working great since day 1

so not much of a difference aside from SAS? I'm not even considering SAS so V2 should be fine for me if it's basically the same thing..

Is the non-Deluxe P6T the same as V2?

No, the Deluxe V2 is not the same as the non-Deluxe P6T. The Deluxe V2 is rev 2 of the Deluxe board.

The $250 price quoted earlier is NOT correct. That is the price for the non-Deluxe board. I have seen no MSRP for the V2 board. Initially it will probably sell for the same price as the V1 board even though it doesn't have the SAS ports. Once supply meets demand, I would expect a slightly lower price, like maybe $280 or $285, but that's just an educated guess.

The V2 board is now becoming available in the States. AFAIK it's not available at Newegg yet, but Google does turn up other sources.

Only a few places in Canada have the Deluxe V2 right now, but it's about $10 cheaper (@ 358CAN) than the cheapest V1 (@ $367CAN).. I haven't heard anybody really run into problems with the V1 which is why I'm curious about what they could've improved in the V2, so far it just looks like they took somethig away.

I don't buy the story that the ONLY difference between the V1 and V2 is the SAS ports. I will accept that it's the only difference that will show up in the specs, but I'm just not buying that there are no bug fixes or other tweaks in the rev 2 board.

But I think we will never know what other differences there might be. I'm prepared to buy a V1 board for the right price, but I haven't seen any big discounts on that board and I can afford to wait a bit longer, so I'll wait for the V2 board. I don't need the SAS ports and don't expect to need more than the 6 SATA ports that remain.

I'm using my SAS ports on my Asus P6t Deluxe V1 for two additional SATA's. They are backward compatible.

A question for Rojas:

I plan to buy the V1 version and use the Marvel controller for 2 SATA II Veloci Raptors in RAID 0; Do you think this is possible? In that case, are special cables required or just simple SATA cable do the job?
