I don't care about extra network connections, or better onboard audio. the only noticeable difference seem to be Stack Cool 2 versus Stack cool 3+.

Anything that would help with a mild 3.6-3.8GHz overclock?

I think the normal P6T would be fine at those speeds, as long as you have decent case ventilation.

I guess there is much more than cooling...
The only thing is they got 30% of DOA and lot of people switching from ASUS to another manufacturers.
By myself i was thinking to buy P6TD after some price drop but they aren't...

Yea my $200 p6t se (shitty edition) gets around 190 bclock stable stock voltage, and so far its been stable to 210 bclock with mild voltage; everyday pushing it 1 higher

Thats a 4410mhz overclock btw (too bad i have a stock cooler so i lower the multi)

*edit* oh yea; basically the p6t series are pretty similiar, u wouldnt notice a difference as long as all the features u need are there

The throttling is a pain in the ass to deal with though. If they just released official bioses to address that issue for the entire P6T line, these would otherwise be decent boards. I wonder, what's so difficult about releasing official bioses to fix this problem instead of releasing test bioses out on forums.

What is the throttling issue?

Well, with the entire P6T lineup, once you pass a certain threshold, which is cumulative of a bunch of factors, the turbo multiplier will get throttled down one step during load. This usually happens when you're over 4.0 ghz. So for example, if you have a i7 920 and you do 21x191 for 4.011 ghz, it might drop down to 20x191 for 3.82 ghz during load. It's a specification from Intel that Asus seems so adamant about, on the other hand, all other board makers don't implement this feature. It's not something you can switch off from bios either. For a premium chipset board, I would expect it to be unrestricted of potential. Regardless, it can still be adequate depending on your goals. There's the possibility of using the 20x multiplier and putting more strain on higher bclk, vtt, and ioh. Or, if you get a P6T Deluxe V1 or V2, there are modified unofficial test bioses made by Asus' bios engineers that have this removed. You can check on XS forums in the P6T Deluxe thread for links on downloading. To my knowledge, they don't have one released for the P6TD deluxe and never plan on any official public releases for any of the P6T series. *The rampage series aren't effected by this - so to their claim of "superior design" or that motherboard series, which is total bs when they can just release a bios to solve the problem.

Can you recommebt another SOLID board over P6T and P6TD ?
Newegg just reduced P6TD's price by $30 (280).
