Asus P6X58D Premium & C300 ssd

I'm building a new system and have never used a SSD. Would someone please tell me what changes to make in the BIOS so that it will see the drive?

Will be installing Windows 7. Amy other advice would also be appreciated.

I recommend you use "ide" mode, not achi. I saw no difference in performance. With achi mode, my ssd failed twice. Unless you plan to swap out hardrives, I don't see enough of an advantage. Windows 7 should locate and format the drive without any difficulty. Can't guarantee windows xp will install smoothly.

I use AHCI, and will always continue using it for SSDs and every drive I purchase in the future.. why?

What are your BIOS settings?

I believe you need to use AHCI even with SATA hard drives to use any sort of hot swapping and Native Command Queuing functionality of the drives.

This is the only thing preventing me from buying a SSD, is having an AHCI compliant m motherboard.
