So I just built a new rig with this motherboard and I noticed that I cannot even see the POST activity. There is just a long black screen followed by the Windows startup logo. Is anyone else getting this?

you might have Fast/Speed boot enabled, combined with a setting that hides the activity = you cant see anything

when you reboot, press F2/F8/F10/F12/Del (whatever key gets you into the bIOS), and turn that off

Thanks for the advice.

I was messing around with the BIOS settings and it looks like "show BIOS logo" actually means that it shows a customized logo set via the ASUS MyLogo2 utility.

If you disable this, it actually provides you with a time limit between 1 and 10 seconds (or whenver you press esc) to display the POST info, but this adds to the overall boot time. I just chose to disable it, as the POST information is not particularly interesting and I won't be the one using the computer.

Just an odd way to set it up. I haven't purchased anything OTHER than an ASUS board for the past 5 years, and I've never come across this type of setup before.

My monitor takes a second or two to come on after a resolution/mode change. This, combined with my BIOS flipping the display adapter on and off, means I sometimes don't see any of my POST at all.

If you reeeeally need to see what it's doing, you've always got the PAUSE key on your keyboard.

Try a different keyboard. It may not be initializing on time. If you've got a USB keyboard plugged into a hub, move it onto one of the root ports on the back panel of the mainboard.
