So I recently purchased and put together a new computer. This is my very first build so bear with me. I mounted the motherboard and attached all of the components before trying to fire it up. (In retrospect, after reading a few forums on the internet and watching videos, maybe that wasn't the brightest of ideas before a 1st boot). Here are my components:

1x Asus p8z77-v lk _________________________Mtherboard
1x Intel i5 3570k 1155 ivy bridge ______________CPU
1x Xonar DX sound card _____________________Sound card
2x Asus GeForce GTX 660 DCII OC (SLI config)___Graphics Cards
1x Havik 140 ______________________________CPU cooler
1x Crucial M4 SSD 128GB ______________________SSD
1x Western Digital RE4 1 TB Enterprise Hard Drive: 3.5 Inch, 7200 RPM, SATA II, 64 MB Cache ____________________________HDD
1x Silverstone Tek 750Watts 80+ Gold PFC ATX 750 Power Supply ST75F-G Evolution _________________________________Power Supply
1x Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64bit (Full) ___OS
1x Viewsonic VX2450WM-LED 24-InchWidescreen LED Monitor with Full HD 1080p and Speakers ________________________Monitor
1x Crucial 8GB Kit (4GBx2), Ballistix 240-pin DIMM BLT2KIT4G3D1608DT1TX0 _________________________________________DIMM3 RAM

Anyways, I tried booting it up and the green LEDs would light up, the fans would spin and do their thing and the MemOK! would blink red once and the MOBO would beep just once. Everything seemed to be working but there would be no signal to the Monitor screen...

So... I read a few more forums and watched a few more videos, reread the mobo handbook and made sure all the RAM sticks were in the right slots etc etc and they were.

So I proceeded to take out one stick of RAM as many people suggested after shutting off the power and rebooting.
No change.

I tried pushing the MemOK! button to get it to go through its testing.
No change.

I started unplugging all the SATA components then rebooted.
No change.

I then removed the SLI connector and rebooted. No Change.
I removed one of the two graphics cards and rebooted. No change.

FINALLY I removed the very last graphics card and rebooted and the system finally gave a video signal and brought up the BIOS EZ screen on the monitor.

Now I am wondering what the heck I am supposed to do. The manual doesn't mention any of this or what to do next. Is it supposed to be able to boot without the video cards attached? Help? Anyone? Feeling a bit lost... Thank you in advance.

You probably should bread-board the components and/or start with minimum components as possible.

Either the BIOS settings are preventing video card from working or likely PCIe card/slot is bad. Are you able to go into BIOS and try changing the video settings?

I'm not a big fan of crucial ballastix memory. Had issues with in in past systems. See if you can get the system stable enough to POST so you can update the bios.

Disable the onboard sound too if you're using another sound card.

This means you connected your monitor to the mobo's dvi output instead of the graphics card output.

Isn't it a bad idea to install two video cards right off the bat on a new build? I would get into bios with the on-board graphics, like you already did and load fail-safe defaults. reboot one time and make sure you get into bios again. Then install one video card in the primary slot (check manual) and move your video cable from the motherboard connector to the video card connector.

Install windows with just the SSD and one video card. Then add the HDD and second video card later.
