My note 9 and S9 both get 200mbps using Fios 200/200 in my living room, 10 ft away from the Fios G1100 router. I've since started to WFH so i had to set up my main pc in a room far enough away that i'm "only" getting 130-150 speeds using the 5g network.

I'm wondering if this wifi adapter is still relevant in 2020: Asus pce-ac68 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00F42V83C/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
My Gigabyte MB has onboard wifi, how do i disable and install this thing?

2.4ghz speeds suck since upgrading to the 200/200 on all devices, even nearby. 70up/70 down within 10 ft of router.

@VirtualLarry so i just installed the new TP-Link AX10 today (https://www.tp-link.com/us/home-networking/wifi-router/archer-ax1500/) and set it to my existing SSID's so that i wouldn't have to update every single IOT / Smart device and multiple computers/tablets in the home.

My setup is:
2x WFH computers (desktop w/ new Archer TX3000E + Lenovo X1)
2x Samsung phones (s9 + note 9, will upgrade soon)
1x Samsung S2 Tablet
2x Nest Cams
1x NestProtect,
1x Nest Thermostat
1x Vtech Wifi Baby Cam
7x Smart Light Bulbs
2x Google Homes
2x Smart TVs
2x Chromecast

Total = 4x Important High usage devices, 21x connected devices that required a stable connection (some 2.4 , some 5ghz) but aren't always on.

What makes the TP-Link Archer TX3000E better than my original Fios G1100 router for today's world?

I assume that you actually meant to say "AX1500", as you are comparing a PCI-E wifi 6 / AX NIC with a Verizon AC router.

If you want to compare router to router, the G1100 was known as a fairly stable, decent wired performance, ISP router, but not the "best" range/performance over wifi, especially the 5Ghz band.

The AX1500, at least from the reviews that I've seen, as well as mentioned by someone on these forums, has good speed / range, and most importantly, it has the OFDMA feature, which is going to become very important in the future. It allows for more efficient use of spectrum x time, and allows for more devices to be served by one router, more efficiently. But that mostly, as I understand it, also REQUIRES OFDMA-enabled clients as well, to take full advantage of that feature.

But just the improved range / performance over the G1100 should help, at least, in theory.

yea speeds i'm getting r similar to the G1100. I'm looking for better reliability for all my smart devices and not have to fear network problems if i wanted to add more.

What do i need to do to get OFDMA working?
