It's a bit too big for my tastes. Bring it down to 24" however and I'll line up to give away my money.

It supports 10bit depth as well. I can see quite a few digital artists going for this.

Is this going to be native 60hz through displayport ? Or will it require running AMD cards in 2 display eyefinity to get 60hz out of it like the Sharp panel ?

There's a DisplayPort connection on the back, so I'm assuming it's going to do 60Hz native over that.

Sounds good. Hopefully it is not crazy expensive. I am wary of buying in so soon on such new technology because of large bugs and drawbacks you generally see when something is so new. All the early adopters who jumped on that Sharp 4K monitor got screwed with no real 60hz support.

Asus wouldn't strike me as a company to try and sell a $4000 monitor or some such. Maybe we will see a $1K-$2K price point, hopefully on the lower end of that scale.

Yes, it has native 60hz for all video cards - Unlike the sharp panel, which doesn't even have displayport.

Hopefully it is not crazy expensive.

Oh, it will be

Amazing. They are here already. About the price, I keep seeing $1,200.00 floating around. I can't imagine that it would be that cheap.

Says there will be a 39inch model as well. Almost tempted to just replace my triple monitor display with that monster.

i would be very careful with ASUS.

i kinda stopped getting there monitors entirely..

Lemme tell u my experience with ASUS.

My first 27 inch came with 2 bad pixils... tried to RMA... nope.. ASUS said sorry.
So i did a RMA with Amazon return the broken shit.
Got another.... had 7 bad pixils.... this time RMA was accepted by ASUS.
Got the RMA with ASUS... 3 bad pixil.

I yelled at ASUS (broken english customer service) for about 30 min, gave up, then had my Chinese friend yell at ASUS in chinese for 20 min and... Finally they send me another monitor.

This time it was perfect..

Cliff's..
unless u know how to argue in chinese... and ur good at arguing professionally... DONT go on ASUS for monitors...

saying that... i am never going away from Dell again...

Dell is amazing. Zero hassle or any sense of having to 'plead your case'. When I got my U3011 I had a single bright pixel. Called them and it was just 'OK. New one is on its way tomorrow, tracking # & prepaid label is coming in email. Send the bad one back with the prepaid label in the email. Thanks for your business.' Two days later the monitor was replaced and the bad one was out the door.

That's not to say if Asus releases a 4K 60hz IPS monitor for under $2K I won't bite, but I'll be expecting to have some real hassle if I need to RMA it. Monitors in particular are notorious for issues on their first/early revisions. It's generally better to wait a bit as there tend to be issues with the panel at the outset. Even Dell's monitors generally always have something like this. Just look at new U3014 and the problems with the panel having what looks like a grid overlay on top of everything. The U3011, 3008, 3007 etc. all also had their own issues with the initial revisions. The first revision of the big panels always tend to have problems.

yes which is why i will never go away from dell again... :hmm:

I dont care how nice or bling or cheap the monitor is.
When things dont go right... you pay for it in time.
If time isnt important to you, then yeah u save a few hundered dollars.
However in my case, that time would be filled with another monitor which costs a few hundered dollars while my main was is getting RMA'd. :\

ASUS isnt half as fast as DELL....
Infact 1 week is considered VERY LUCKY... 2 weeks... lucky... 3 weeks... getting close to normal... 1 month... thats about how long normal takes...
Now if its a rare item, like this 4k... ROFLROFLROFL.... id hate to be in your shoes for an RMA with ASUS.
Id seriously cry not being able to use that monitor after getting used to that large of a real estate.

Nvidia is currently working on a 60Hz option for 4K. Possibly by allowing 2 monitor surround on a single 4K display.

I'll be aboard the 4K train if they come up with a nice solution.

I'd like them to have something like dual Link-DVI except for display port. That way you wouldn't have to worry about having to use a hack method like surround just to get 60Hz at 3840x2160.

To my knowledge, and this is what asus has stated - 4k will already work at 60hz with displayport 1.2. The solution you're referring to, as mentioned in that forum post is related to the Sharp 4k screen which did not have displayport output - it used HDMI x2 for 4k @ 60hz. This isn't necessary with displayport, a single card can enable 60hz.

Showed this to Ms Arizona_Steve. Now she's trying to talk me into getting one so she can have my current 30" 1600p display.
