ASUS Probe Software

I have recently upgraded my PC's motherboard and CPU to an Athlon XP 1700+ and an ASUS A7V8X and seemed to have no problems. After installing the OS and the ASUS Probe software I noticed that the chasis coooling fan monitor is returning a reading at times in the negative RPM range. Has anyone experienced this problem? If so, what can I do to resolve the issue?

Ignore it. It does that on 2 of the 3 Asus MB I have. Confirm the fan is running though.

same problems... i think it's a bug on the AsusProbe software...

after the initial encounter with the problem i plugged all the fans in my system to a DigiDoc 5 unit and none of em had ever given me negative readings.

I wonder if this is a problem with fans or the software?

What kinds of fans have yeilded these results?

I have an asus mobo, Ive used the program, and Ive seen so many complaints about this prog that Ive lost all faith in it.

are they low speed fans?

are they low speed fans?

Low speed fans will have no effect on this. The fan generates a pulsed signal to the motherboard every one rotatation. The actual RPM calculation is performed in software (maybe hardware?). I would say the most likely answer is that PC Probe has some issues with division

Asus PC Probe has some major issues. I don't use it anymore, since it has so many bugs it's not funny. Not only does it incorectly report the fan speed, but also the CPU temp, mobo temp, voltages, and pretty much everything else. I've compared Asus Probe, MBM 5 and the BIOS with my own thermal probe, and MBM and the BIOS pretty much agreed and were the closest to the actual reading. Granted, I couldn't accurately measure the core temp, since I put the probe next to it and not actually on it, but it was reasonably accurate.
