So I got my Swift last night. I immediately noticed that the gamma was way way off, it's around 1.6-1.7. I am using the NVCP to adjust the gamma back to 2.2, but this causes bad color banding. I've tried installing the ASUS monitor driver and ICC color profile but they appear to have no effect whatsoever. Not sure if I am having a driver problem or if the monitor is grossly defective. Anyone experience this issue with theirs or know how to fix it?

Get a calibrator if you want to really adjust it properly.

I go with G-Sync because holding 120Hz is very difficult at 1440p, even with multiple GPUs. GPUs aren't quite ready for ULMB at this resolution, though the may be in next year.

There is no need to maintain 120 fps with ULMB really. I generally use it with games that run at 60+ fps and use G-Sync for the others.

The problem isn't so much the adjustment, it's that the reviews and most people have stated that the out of the box gamma was pretty accurate, while mine is not, and calibrating mine causes bad color banding. I think mine may be defective but I'm still trying to determine what is going on.

Anyone else using the 3d capabilities of this monitor, I'm finding that after exiting a 3D game the monitor sometimes stays in 3D mode (green LED remains on)

This is a problem because lightboost then remains active giving a overly bright and washed out image.

Cycling the turbo button fixes it, but its a bit annoying.

I've had one for months and didn't even realize it was 3d-capable. I'll give it a try tonight when I get home. I don't have Nvidia 3d glasses, but I think I can alternate my blinking rapidly enough to get by.

I don't have that monitor, but I do use 3D Vision. I have 2 batch files that I have pinned to my taskbar to turn 3D Vision on and off. Give these a try.

Code:
@echo off
"C:\Program Files (x86)\NVIDIA Corporation\3D Vision\nvstlink.exe" /enable
exit

Code:
@echo off
"C:\Program Files (x86)\NVIDIA Corporation\3D Vision\nvstlink.exe" /disable
exit

Place the two scripts into .BAT files and run them to turn 3D on or off.

Sorry to do a thread bump but I had a question about this monitor.

This morning one of the neighborhood kids who I have helped build a gaming PC last November comes over and says he has a new monitor and needs help setting it up. He has the Asus PG278Q and we are trying to figure out this gsync stuff. We have Gsync set in the control panel, but what we are wondering and I'm not entirely sure of from reading, is what the button to change refresh rates on the monitor itself will do. Would we put that on 144hz and leave gsync on and be done? Is there a reason to run this at 120hz or 60hz vs 144hz? Is it even necessary to use that turbo button?

The turbo button isn't useful unless you need to switch your refresh rate on the fly. 120 Hz is what ULMB uses and G-Sync can go up to 144 Hz. If the kid has no use for ULMB, then leave it at 144 Hz in the NVIDIA control panel and enable G-sync and that's it.

ULMB over G-Sync comes down to personal preference. I like using ULMB in games that are very fast paced and generally run fast. For example CoD Advanced Warfare felt better with ULMB to me. By comparison I prefer G-Sync with something like MGS Ground Zeroes because of its slower pace.

The easiest way to enable ULMB is to use Nvidia Control Panel to set a profile for a game and set the V-Sync setting to "Off". Then you can use the display's turbo button to cycle to 120 Hz with ULMB enabled. When you come back to desktop it reverts back to 144 Hz without ULMB.

Is getting this to work for fullscreen windowed games ever going to be a thing?

That would likely require Windows to support it, which is likely not going to happen until the next big release after Windows 10 at the earliest.

Just thought I'd update that my Swift crapped the bed today. White\green static lines on the left side of the screen, a solid horizontal line all the way across near the top, and all text is blurry and unreadable. Lowering the resolution & refresh rate helps with the lines, but not the blurriness. This seems to be a pretty common malfunction, so I guess now I just wait a month to get my monitor replaced.

That sucks. Since it's Asus, I'm curious to know how the RMA goes. Their rep isn't exactly stellar. Although some people say it's only their GPU service that's poor.

Got a new monitor from Asus. It worked great for a few days, now it's got blurry text and a pulsing\flickering blacklight, as well as horizontal shadow lines running the length of the screen. This is worst at 144hz, but visible at all refresh rates. However, if I disable g-sync, set the monitor to 120hz and turn on ULMB, then it's fine. Sadly I found plenty of people on the Asus forum with this exact same problem. Guess I'll have to RMA again. Shipping was $120 last time... sigh.

So, I just bought one of these. So far so good as far as I can tell. But I've only been using it since Saturday and i know the issues with this guy can develop over time. For the first time in years i actually bought the extended warranty purely from all the issues people have reported.

Mine was back to working normally this morning after being turned off overnight. These things are really hit or miss.

Has anyone tested windowed Gsync? Is it working correctly? Some games (esp Unity engine) have just windowed mode, I really want to run them with Gsync.

G-sync does not work in windowed mode or in unity 4 so you are out of luck on both counts.

Apparently the latest 353.06 drivers added G-Sync support in windowed mode. I'll probably try tonight when I get back home with some games I usually run in Windowed Fullscreen mode.

Yeah, that's why I asked as well, had to leave for job after I noticed 353.06 has supposedly support for it. Kudos for Nvidia if it is really working, being programmer i have no idea how they managed it with Windows DWM around.

Definitely sounds like a hack since it only works with a single card and 2 card SLI. However it is a great start if it works.

They still haven't responded to my request for another RMA. I've tried multiple video cards & computers and this panel is definitely defective. I submitted my support request on May 19th and I've received no response. When I check the status of my request it says "IN PROGRESS." I assume I should wait the standard 90 days before submitting another support request?
