ASUS Striker II Extreme or ASUS P5E3 PREMIUM

I'm in the market for new build and I'd trying to decide between these two boards. I hardly every upgrade so I chose to go with the a DDR3 board for future upgrade purposes if need be.

I'll be using one or an SLI setup with an EVGA 9800GTX cards. I'm assuming the Intel board supports nvidia cards as well as crossfire cards? The processor choice for this build is either the Q9300 or Q9450. I'd like to be able to have a decent overclock of Mid 3Ghz if possible. I'm partial to Asus boards simply because I've had great luck with them when building computers for friends and family.

I've been out of the loop with building computers, and I'd like some help choosing between these two boards. Any help on this is greatly appreciated

nope, the intel board (P5E3) doesnt support sli, but it does support crossfire. if you are going to use sli, get the striker 2 extreme. if not, then the P5E3 is your board.

I have the P5E3 Premium and yes it does crossfire just fine. I too upgrade for the long term. I love this motherboard and have had no problems with it. I currently have an E8500 in it. I like that I'm going to be able to upgrade for a while to come. The bios hasn't fully matured yet, and although I have not had any problems with it, I expect it to get even better yet as far as the Express Gate and other fancy doodads that it has.

So it seems the Intel boards still don't support SLI, but does it support a single Nvidia card solution? To be quite honest, I seem to read more praises for the P5E3 board than I do for the 790 Striker board. The case and everything else I need comes in today and tomorrow, the processor and motherboard are the only two I have not yet ordered. Trying to get as much info and opinions as I can before making a choice on motherboards. Again, I appreciate the help and response.

Yeah I did quite a bit of research before purchasing the P5E3 Premium and most all of the reviews either gave it a gold or silver award. The only con I have read about it of course is the price. But since it is the heart and soul of my computer so to speak, I don't mind spending a little more. Oh yes and it will do a single Nvidia card solution just fine.
