<,LXi, somehow I get the feeling you hate Asus almost as much as Pabster hates VIA.>>

Pabster: VIA IS SH1T!!! Never buy VIA, they suck like hell and everyone should avoid them like plague!! None of the VIA chipsets have worked and they NEVER WILL!!! VIA IS DAMNED TO THE ETERNITY!!

LXi: Asus isn't bad but they're just overrated and overpriced. Nothing personal but I'd rather do business to someone else.

Somehow I don't get the feeling how I am anywhere close to Pabster.

Well I wasnt pointing out the way you say it as much as the fact that you seem to say it as often as you possibly can.

But anyways, there was some sarcasm in there as well, just didn't put a in there

Asus boards are consistantly stable, reliable, high performing, and good overclockers. Not always the best, but always near the top.

You can not say that for many other boards. They demand a higher price because they know they can get it, businesses pay more for reliability, cheap people on forums don't, they think its perfectly acceptable to RMA, and live with issues popping up.

Asus is fine.

Sounds to me like your multiplier is partially locked again - I notice you can do x8 and x10 so the x2 part is OK, did you try for x8.5 or x10.5 (1133MHz, 1400MHz)? If you can get these but not x9 or x11 (1200MHz, 1466MHz (actually try that on a 100 FSB, 1100MHz)) you need to get your chip unlocked again, at least on the x1 multiplier.

You could try for x12 on a 100FSB, but I know that's not what you really want. If you can get 8.5x, try your FSB at 142MHz... that's 1207MHz, about as close as you'd get without control of the x1.

hehe very strange. I tried jumper mode one more time but tried it a different way. First I powered my system down including switch in the back changed jumpers to were they should be then I powered back up with no post. Then I held reset in for about 3 secs and bam it posts at 1200(9x133) again. Whats up with that?

Also my FSB jumpers don't make a clicking sound when changing them on or off? Should they or should I even worrie?

<< I'm a little confused on why you would want to buy a guaranteed o/clocking cpu & not use it for it's maximum performance! >>

I am confused as to why he's posting this in General Hardware?

I got a good deal on it and didnt need to overclock but hey its there if I ever need to. Also I ain't the only one who has posted stuff here when it should be elsewhere its done everyday more than once a day I am sure. Apparently the mods don't seem to think it needs to be moved?

Anyway this can be locked or moved.

Personally I've never liked Asus because they seem to overprice their motherboards for no apparent reason and I can't see any reason why I should pay more for them. If I go with Soltek I get rock solid boards and lots of cool features for a dirt cheap price.

<< Asus is very overrated. >>

Not only that, but their price premium is not justifiable.. I could have spent 250 on an A7V266E, but I got a nicer mobo, (Soltek SL75DRV4) with the same chipset for 170 (at the time, it's even less now...) and i am not looking back.. the last 2 boards I have used have both been so good, I really have no idea why anyone would pay so much more for something that is just NOT better.. (Asus)

I won't buy Asus again until their prices and ego come down....... come to think of it... I've had less problems when not using Asus boards too.. Hah, that's freaking hilarious... aaaaaanyways...

Just got my first Asus board ever (A7N266-E) and so far I'm impressed with the quality and performace of this board. Manuals, quick installation guides are very well organized and thoroughly written. The board itself looks and feels top notch.Stability and speed are excellent. And I just learned that Asus boards have THREE-YEAR WARRANTIES. If there is a better argument to justify its higher than average price, then this is it.

Well problem is, is I bought a pretested Athlon 1gig@1.4 off of compuwiz.

I wouldn't buy anything "pretested" like that. Unless it's an AXIA don't expect it to reach 1.33GHz stable.

My question also is why are you using the jumpers? Why aren't you using jumper free mode?

I have an Asus A7V133 with a 1GHz AMD Thunderbird AXIA and it boots perfectly stable at 1.4GHz.
