Does it or is it just my Athlon? Well problem is, is I bought a pretested Athlon 1gig@1.4 off of compuwiz. Well it use to post at 1.2 with jumpers and worked perfect for a few months. Well I decided I want to try 1.33GHz. Well it posted but wasnt stable so I decided to go back to 1.2 and it would not post at all.

Only speeds it will post at using jumpers or not useing them is 800Mhz,1000,1066 and 1333Mhz. Anyone have any idea why is does this? I can't get it to post at anything else? I have the Asus A7V133 with 1007 BIOS.

Did the unlock stop workin? If it was penciled in, try repenciling it. Maybe you damaged it during the removal. Also, try upping the vcore to 1.775.

Asus has a good name. They are generally regarded as a company with high-quality products that work well.

The orange pencil you referred to is the locktite defogger conductive paint that Compuwiz1 used to unlock the cpu...

What settings are you trying to use to get to 1.4Ghz...? (mulitiplyer, fsb, Vcore... and so on...?) Also what memory settings...?

I am trying to go back to 1.2 since I don't want to up my voltage. I was wanting 9x133FSB. I keep my FSB at default so that I know my ram ain't the problem which is PC133 ram. I had my system at 1.2 at default voltage for a while but since I changed stuff around it won't post at 1.2 anymore. But will post at 1.33 at default voltage.

It was probably pretested with 1.85 volts, unless you up your voltage you're not going to get 1.4ghz.

How can you blame asus just because you can't overclock?? Sound's like YOU did something wrong, not asus. I have a MSI K7Tpro 266 and it cant overclock as well as my shuttle, but still its ROCK stable. Asus doesn't suck, there like the "sony" of mobo's, mainly top notch boards and computer hardware.

Point is I don't want to do 1.4 because I don't have the cooling to do it that why I want to go back to 1.2. But for some reason my mobo doesnt want to. It only lets me select 800,1000,1066 and 1333. Will it hurt my system if I turn it off and on multi time to try and figure out wants wrong? What does it mainly damage just the hard drive? Could I maybe unhook the power from the HD and try to get it to post or figure out whats wrong?

my main rig is an a7v133, it has NEVER rebooted, you have to power down and power back up. 3 different psu's too...and there arent many peripherals in it, so power usage is not high (duron 750)

so can anyone answer my last 2 questions?

BTW even if I change the multiplier to say 10.5x or 11x the computer still posts at 1.33 for some reason.

Sounds like one of the bridges has come unlocked. You can use Acetone to remove the defogger paint, I believe.

<< Asus is very overrated. >>

I think so, too. It's not that ASUS hardware is POS or anything, it's just way too expensive for what it is, IMO.

I'm a little confused on why you would want to buy a guaranteed o/clocking cpu & not use it for it's maximum performance!

Sounds like you are expecting more form a motherboard than you should. You have a 1GHz processor, correct? My questions are: "Does the Asus motherboard you have run this processor stable on your Asus mobo?"

"Does the motherboard run your your 1Ghz at 1.33GHz stable, which is a 33% increase?"

How can you blame ASUS for your overclocking problems? Why not blame AMD for their processors? It may just be your cpu has become "locked". It may just be that you don't quite understand how to "tweak" the motherboard settings.

Asus blows...i'm using two of their products right now (K7M and V6600), and even back in the day when they were top of the line, I wish i hadn't bought them....ah well

overpriced, no-support, bastards...honestly, i don't see them offering anythign over above the competition that offers far cheaper boards.

LXi, somehow I get the feeling you hate Asus almost as much as Pabster hates VIA.

Ive owned a Asus A7V and a A7V133 both have gave me trouble with jumpers and settings thats why I think it might be the mobo. I have never had any problems with other boards when overclocking. Yeah the board will run the CPU at 1.33@1.8v but I don't have to cooling to do so. I think I will go with Epox,Iwill or maybe Soltek next time.

I thought that it was the bridges more than anything but how do I take that crap off to go over with a pencil?
